Microtek Lab ScanMaker 4800 Flatbed ScannerStrengths: It looks good on the table top Weakness: Very complicated to operate and NO customer service. I don't consider myself a dummy, but getting this scanner to operate and produce good quality scans took me months of trial and error. I can only scan about 5 pictures at a time and then it suddenly stops working. Their customer support is non-existant as I work during their office hours and the website has no usable support. I'm thinking of donating this piece of junk and buying something else.

The first one stopped working on the 29th day, so fortunately I was able to replace it. Since installing the second I've had nothing but troubles with my computer as a whole. We're using Windows XP and our entire computer is hanging. We actually have to restart the computer before we can do anything. Microtek Lab ScanMaker 4800 Flatbed ScannerStrengths: Easy to install and use. Weakness: Support is a little weak I had a microtek scanner for 3 years and no problems with it. When I purchased a new computer my old microtek wouldn't plug in. I purchased the microtek 4800 for that reason. It came with the microtek light lid 35 for scanning slides and 35mm negatives. I've scanned in over 200 slides and 50 negatives with it and I was really impressed with the results. Some of the negatives were 60 to 70 years... Advertisement
