Top notchStrengths: Fast, cooler than my other 250G drive, quiet, excellent value/capacity, options for sata2, 3.0gbps, ncq Weakness: Hitachi feature tool software needs to be run from bootable media Have had this installed for months in a MSI Neo4 Platinum (nForce4 Ultra), used a boot diskette to enable 3.0gbps and NCQ, verified features enabled in windows, after that, checked my benchmarks, which were right on target and hasn't given me anything but an excellent performance since, it just works so well it's easy to forget how great it really is.

Fast and QuietStrengths: Sata II compatable, 250GB Weakness: Only 8mb cache, though I have never seen any benefit with the current 16mb cache drives of today. This is the drive to buy if you are looking for a new 250GB sata drive, or looking for a SATA upgrade. I bought this one over the previous model because of the SATA II compatabilities, which for my future upgrades will be a big benefit. Hitachi has great tech support, and great RMA support ( I had one of my IDE drives fail, got a brand new one from Thailand).

Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 HDT722525DLA380 250 GB...Strengths: Very quiet, fast, and has a great burst rate on an NF4 controller. Weakness: None. Probably one of the quietest drives I've ever owned, this Hitachi is still a great performer. Download their feature tool to enable SATAII (if and only if your SATA controller supports that) and your burst rates jump--mine went from about 120MB/s to over 220MB/s. Granted, this is only the burst out of the cache, but it seems to make a difference compared to other drives I've had. Others have had...

A Huge Capacity at a Great PriceStrengths: Works flawlessly, Reads super quiet, Huge capacity, fast, reliable. Weakness: None It works flawlessly, reads quieter than any other internal 7200rpm drive I've ever used. Its fast transfer speed will satisfy all of my computing needs. Even my systems performance got enhanced. It will boot up fast. Even access to data is faster.

Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 Sata II 250GbStrengths: Speed Quietness Temperature Weakness: None I am running 2 Hitachi DeskStar T7K250 SATA II drives with an AMD Athlon 64 X2-3800 processor, Corsair 2GB DDR400 XMS3200 memory Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard, and GeForce 6800GT graphic card. The drives are set up as simple C: and D: drives without Raid. I do a lot of graphic processing work and was looking for speed as well as size. The Hitachi drives have a SATA II 3 GB transfer rate. I...

not easy to get full performance (standard on Sata1)Strengths: price and silent Weakness: nothing yet :0) thanks for the info. After using the 'feature tool' my burst went up from 125 MB/s to 216 MB/s (P4 3000). Had a little trouble because my BIOS had to be on Standard IDE (enhanced mode support on Sata) and not AHCI (Sata2). Note: my acces time is 12,7 ms and from the tech. spec. it should be 8,5 ms?

Large capacity with reliable qualityStrengths: Fast, queit, and very low cost per MB. Weakness: You might need to purchase a SATA II cable separately. The new SATA II drives are still much more pricey in retail stores than old Parallel ATA drives. The OEM version I purchased was as cheap as PATA drives, while it provides with the full power of SATA II. I guess most boxed items would come with a cable, but my OEM version didn't. Had to buy an expensive one at local stores.

good buyStrengths: quiet, fast Weakness: expensive Got this drive for a SATA upgrade. The capacity is large enough to take the place of my other two drives. Works very well without noise, let me say, it is the quietest drive i had among all. It also boots up my system with its fast transfer speed. But i do want to remind of those who what to buy this drive, it is still pretty pricy in retailer store, or just buy an OEM , if you don't mind the...

Trustworthy IBM/Hitachi drivesStrengths: Very quiet, fast and reliable Weakness: Expensive So many hard drives have come and go... and so far, I have luck with IBM/Hitachi drives only whereas others just quit with a goodbye, together with my valuable data. So I'm sticking with it!

SATA Hard Drives Run Riot: Maxtor, Hitachi, Western Digital 250 GB
We were already able to thoroughly test the 7K250 a few weeks ago. It just managed to edge out the competitors from Maxtor and Western Digital , making it the fastest UltraATA drive currently available. The question is, can it do the same thing with Serial ATA? TopAdvertisement

Great Value From a Good Brand
Strengths: Good manufacturer. Good customer support. Quiet, Fast, low operating temperature. 3 year warranty. Best value in terms of $/GB.
Weakness: None really
The performance on these drives is really great! NOTE: This drive comes from the Hitachi configured only for SATA 150 MB/s (AKA 1.5 GB/s) data transfer rate. Hitachi does this so the drives are backward-compatible with motherboards and controllers that only support the SATA 150 MB/s data transfer rate. To make use of the faster SATA 300 MB/s (AKA 3.0 GB/s), you must also have a motherboard and...
