The BestStrengths: Fast, Quiet, reliable so far. Weakness: None I have two of these in a RAID 1 configuration. They have run flawlessly, and are extremely fast. According to WD, this is the same basic drive mechanism as their RE3 enterprise drives, but without the vibration resistance or testing. I also have RE3's in my server, and these drives appear identical. I own 20+ drives, and I so far have had no failures or SMART drive faults on any of the 7200 RPM...

black caviarStrengths: Works fine on video editing Weakness: None so far I bought three of these for my use and three Seagates for Christmas presents. Mine still work. The others don't. Seagate seems to be in the dumpster. They don't care or do not have the money to care.

BUY SEAGATEStrengths: NONE I SEE Weakness: DIED IN THREE WEEKS I had this drive about three weeks on a brand new system.. I just got done loading two weeks of OS and other programs and getting it the way I wanted.. I just moved today 300 gigs of data off five hard drives 5-7 years old and did a virus scan and noticed system froze I rebooted and cant see drive on and off and win xp never finished a boot, I load this drive into old system and that one also...

Over the past 9 years I've purchased 6 WD hardrives - still yet to have a WD hardrive to fail. In Jan I bought both the black and green - I use the caviar black for both media storage and gaming - works great.
