Description

The VXA-1 incorporates a FireWire interface, and offers you a generous native capacity of 33GB at a 3MB/s transfer rate, making it ideal for storage and retrieval of high-end graphic design, gaming, web authoring, computer-aided design, photos, MPEGs, and publishing files. Other technical features include a load time of 20 seconds, a 128MB/sec search speed (256MB/sec, compressed), a 66GB compressed capacity, a 4 Mbit data buffer, and a MTBF rating of 300,000 hours.Providing cost-effective off-line storage for broadcast quality and source video libraries, VXA-1 lets you maximize your online disk storage performance by off-loading up to four hours of MPEG-2 at 75KB per frame. The drive's packet architecture assures exceptionally reliable restore of video, audio, and animation files for fast, efficient non-linear editing. VXA is based on Discrete Packet Format (DPF), which allows data to be written and read in individually addressed, small packets of data. This technology significantly improves the ability to restore your important data and playback your multimedia files. Other important and proprietary features include Variable Speed Operation (VSO), which optimizes streaming video playback and data restore by eliminating the performance degrading and time-consuming error correction operations common to all other data tape technologies.
