WD Caviar 40 GB Internal Hard Drive - 1 Pack - OEMStrengths: fast and quiet Weakness: failed after 30 months This drive has good performance and is fairly quiet. It replaced a 30GB 7200 RPM Maxtor drive that was much noisier. Unfortunately, it failed after about 30 months of part time (home, nights and weekends) use, the first Western Digital drive that I have had a problem with. It has bad sectors and won't pass a full write-zero test; the bad sectors cannot be mapped out. I've had hard drives fail in...

WD Caviar 40 GB Internal Hard Drive - 1 Pack - OEMStrengths: Great drive. Fast, quiet, good warranty by Western Digital who back their drives. Good price. Great tech support. I have six (6) of the drives in three (3) computer systems on 24x6.5 -- 0.5 = maint. Weakness: None I buy only Western Digital drives based on price and support and past experience. This drive is ideal for my use in a SOHO environment. I recommend this drive as a cost-efficient HDD. Also, if you want to install larger drive(s), this drive has good resale value on eBay.

WD Caviar 40 GB Internal Hard Drive - 1 Pack - OEMStrengths: none Weakness: it crashed 5 times in 14 months very slow poor performance would slow down my pc would crash about every two months would recomend anyone looking at this hard drive to look elseware. do not reccomend it to anyone to buy

WD Caviar 40 GB Internal Hard Drive - 1 Pack - OEMStrengths: none Weakness: slow, very poor performance not related to programs running in the background. poor performance with only systray and explorer running in win ME. Anything else makes it worse. Have P4 top of the line system and in all benchmark tests, the Hard Drive stinks!

Strengths: Quality hard drive. Quite.
Weakness: None
So far WD hard drives have been nothing but good to me. They are quite and fast. I havent had 1 error on my 2 WD hard drives (one ive owned 2 years, and this one thats newer). I use multiple hard drives, swapping them in and out of my system, and these hard drives have worked every time for me. Unlike my maxtor who not only had errors after less use, and the power pins broke off in the power plug...
