Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator

Strengths: AP Calculus, AP Physics, and Engineering Capabilities.

Weakness: Software (TI-Connect) to put programs on the calculator could be easier to use for those not computer oriented.

I know I say experience for fours days (I have had my own for four days), but I have used the calculator for about a year, as I have used my friend's. For a few years, I had the TI-86, and for graphing purposes and playing games of course, this was all that I needed to do. But when I went into Calculus, graphing alone was not enough. The TI-89 Titanium performs integrals and derivatives, and with...

Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator

Strengths: Powerful, fast, lots of memory, includes USB cable

Weakness: the sliding cover is very very hard to slide off

After using a TI-83 Plus calculator for the last 5 years, I decided to upgrade to the TI-89 Titanium. This calculator is unbelievable in its features and power. First of all, it is more suited for advanced math, such as calculus and beyond. If you are a student in a class below calculus or don't do any work that involves such advanced math, then save your money and buy a TI-84 instead. This...

it's worth the price

Strengths: Great capabilities

Weakness: if you have never used a grahing calculator, be prepared to spend a lot time reading the manual.

Makes math, physics, chemistry classes much easier. Many people in class (including the instructor)will have this calculator. It allows you to focus on the concepts not the math details.

Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator

Strengths: Refer to Comment:

Weakness: Refer to Comment:

Strengths: Tons of memory, Soo many features, makes math soo easy that they don't even allow them on the ACT test. Which is no big deal for me because where I live almost every college use SAT. California. This calculator does soo mcuh, from 3d graphing to simplifying, adding, and subtracting Ration expressions. The list is endless. This is by far the best calculator out there for the price. I'm...

Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator

Strengths: 3D Graphing, Integrals, More Advanced Statistic Features than TI83+, More Advanced Applications, and much more...

Weakness: Other than the text being a bit small for the screen, I can see no other weakness.

This calculator was a perfect upgrade from my TI 83+ which I used in high school. Higher level college classes such as Calculus III and Linear Algebra can be greatly enhanced with this calculator.

Titanium not so strong

Strengths: Superior Features and useability over any other calculator

Weakness: Titanium is much bigger (thicker and bulkier) than the regular (and superior) TI-89

Let me start by saying the regular TI-89 (not Titanium) is HANDS DOWN the best calculator I have ever owned. I had HP 48g and a TI-83 previously and the TI-89 is by far superior. The only reason I was forced to buy the Titanium version is that after 4 years of constant use getting my engineering degree some of the keys down the center of the keypad stopped working. The Titanium... Anyone who has...

Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator

Strengths: Good Instruction, USB transfer cable, several times faster than using the original serial ports. More application and functionalities. Allowed it SAT and most standardized test. Comes with appz on CD

Weakness: Quite expensive compare to other TI models. More functionailities meaning more complicated to use. Normal users should stick with TI83+

I own a TI83+ but because I heard TI89+ has more functionality, I decided to upgrade. It is a good choice! More functions than TI 83 including integral, derivatives, equation solver and MUCH MUCH more... still trying to figure out how to use the calculator to its full! A must have for engineering students!

Texas Instruments TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator

Strengths: Preloaded applications, USB connectivity, graphing and advanced calculus functions, excellent documentation.

Weakness: Display not lighted, a bit heavy (~8oz!)

The titanium version has 3 times the memory of TI-89 (2.5+MB) for about the same price. Staples had another $20 rebate. It is the most advanced powergraphing calculator allowed in SAT I & II. The button layout is logical and very easy to use, specially if you owned a previous Texas Instruments advanced calculator. Battery life may be a bit short, so load fresh batteries if you are taking this...

TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator

Strengths: More powerful than the TI-83 I used in high school. Great having a USB Cable

Weakness: Too big to carry around.

So much better than the TI-83. I am a Math Major in College and I am sure this calculator will get me through these tough math coarses. I am looking forward to use the USB capabilities to it's fullest. I am glad I upgraded to the TI-89.

TI 89 is the most advanced calculator on the market

Strengths: Powerful programs that take much of the tedium out of performing mathematical computations such as Calculus Made Easy

Weakness: It will simplify trig eqs with trig exps, but its difficult to get it like the answer text has it. Honestly, I am put out that TI calcs are not keeping up with PDAs as far as technology is concerned.

I was told by a friend who was in higher math that if a person obtains an 89 and puts forth the effort to learn how to use it Pre-Calculus would be a "cake walk". He wasn't kidding. I made sure I knew everything possible about how to perform the necessary computations. Between that and studying like I should I ended up acing a class that routinely washed-out 30% or more of the class per semester....

Texas Instruments TI-89 | Titanium version

The TI-89 is a popular graphing calculator made by Texas Instruments, originally released in 1998. It features powerful computer algebra system (CAS) that can solve albebraic expressions in symbolic terms; most other calculators solve in terms of number only. For example, entering (x^3-x^2-8x+12)/(x+3) returns x2 − 4x + 4, which is pretty printed by default. The current version of the...
