Want or Need Vista NowStrengths: Excellent graphics if you have the right video card. Fun switching between windows with the new Flip 3D. Fun and useful gadgets. Great Backup system if you have an external drive. Weakness: Memory intensive, so buy as much RAM as you can. Security questions with almost every application and operation that you run. If you want or need to see the latest OS from Microsoft, get Windows Ultimate, but, if you can hold off, Windows XP will be adequate you for a while. I am sure Windows Home Premium will be okay as well, but you do not get the Backup and Restore feature that you get with Ultimate. Restore from Backup is relatively quick if you have a fast computer and External Drive as is the initial backup. Do...

The best version of Windows yetStrengths: DX10, Aero, Bitlocker, UAC, Good multimonitor support Weakness: Needs a modern PC to run. This is Microsoft latest and greatest and is worth moving up to if you have a modern PC. If you have an ancient one, then you might not want to bother unless you are willing to upgrade it. Most people complain that Vista takes too many resources to run and that is true. But so what? XP used more resources than ME, 2000 or 98. This is how advancing technology works.

Windows Vista Ultimate...Strengths: Much more productive interface, very smooth running, fast execution. Weakness: Operating system minor errors and glitches, mostly minor. Ok otherwise. Windows Vista Ultimate is a very powerful version of Windows; it incorporates to a degree better security, very easy to learn new user interface, and better dual core management. The retail version also comes with a 64 bit cd included with the 32 bit. The only problem with it is its massive taxation of the graphics card and more importantly on the Processor. I have problems running it on my...

Win Vista UltimateStrengths: Robust; very stable comparing to previous Win OS; built-in security check against malicious and unwanted software; more attractive graphic user interface; useful windows sidebar; loaded with features. Weakness: Sluggish; need at least 1GB of RAM to run properly and 2GB of RAM to run effectively with many windows and applications opened at the same time; demanding on video card; no support for PocketPC 2002. Upgrading from Win XP to Win Vista Ultimate, you will be pleased with the graphic user interface and stability of the new OS. The features available in XP are now more robust on Vista Ultimate which also has Windows Media Center and Tablet PC built in. However, you will eventually notice the sluggishness of the whole PC system since Vista demands more system resources, especially from the CPU,...

Vista UltimateStrengths: Looks, new features Weakness: Price, driver/ software support I've got it for $45 only. The $300 pricetag is really ridiculous, wouldn't buy it for it, better to get XP OEM for $120. Looks nice, new start menu is very usefull, you can type any application, feature, link in it to start, instead of scrolling through pop-up menus. Almost every part of OS is configurable, so you can turn off some annoying pop-ups and etc. (of course you need to know what you're...

Windows Vista UltimateStrengths: Great interface, easy install, and updates Weakness: Vendors are still scrambling to create updated drivers This OS has a great interface. Love the multiple pane abilities. The Direct X 10 inclusion will be a great addition once more games are made for it. I had no problems with the install, and the automatic updates are trouble free. I wish however that either Microsoft had waited a bit, or other software/hardware vendors were a bit faster at getting the updates for Vista.

Vista UltimateStrengths: Haven't seen much Weakness: UAC impacts the user experience I got this primarily to test our software on Vista. The UAC asks the user to confirm all these actions, which makes our software installation not very smooth. We will have to provide a lot more documents to our users. I haven't encountered big problems with Vista itself yet, and I haven't seen any big benefit either. Anyway, will be using it from now on, we will see what's going to happen.

Function sacrificed for the sake of Form--If you own...Strengths: Networking features are better than XP. Improved Standby/Hibernate. It's pretty. It's more secure (if being tied up in a straight jacket so you can't hurt yourself can be called that). Weakness: Many. See Comments. This has to be the worst step backward an OS has ever taken. There are several things about Vista that really annoy me, these are just my top-rated ones. It's bloated! 15GB for just an OS? Just because hard drives are bigger doesn't mean that software code shouldn't be written efficiently in as little space as possible. It renders lost of hardware and software obsolete. It's going to force most...

microsoft always releases too earlyStrengths: very pretty, neat features, nice "borrowed" features from Mac Weakness: incompatible, resource hog, huge file size, useless crap running I ran Vista for about a month. It was fun to have the latest and greatest new toys but the lack of productivity forced me to reinstall WinXPsp2. With Vista being so new many hardware companies have not released drives (and many may not ever release drivers for Vista). This may someday be a great operating system. Keep in mind that even its predecessor Windows XP was a horrible, incompatible,...

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate
It was more than five years ago that Microsoft released Windows XP, and on January 30th, 2007 Microsoft is launching Vista, the latest operating system in the Windows family. The most notable improvement is the development of Windows Aero (Authentic, Energetic, Reflective, Open); a new graphical interface and visual style featuring eye candy such as window transparencies and animations. Other new... Top

Ultimate solution for PC users with compatible...
Strengths: Tons of included software and hardware support.
Weakness: Requires a newer more advanced PC.
What do Mac users all over the world do since Vista made its public release? They lie about how superior Mac OSX is. Vista at its lowest level (Home Basic) smokes the Mac OS like like a Ferrari running against a Volkswagon Bug. Just load Vista to a system with comparable hardware to what Mac offers - you will see an immediate improvement in processing power and capability. Hey, even Windows users...
