Samsung HD501LJStrengths: Quiet, fairly fast, decent temp Weakness: Failed, company warrenty Failed after one year. It started with getting drive errors and two hours later - Clicking sound, can't get at any data (have backup). In a QuadCore system with 2 other Western Digital 500gb drives which are older and still running strong. Samsung makes it very hard to return for replacement. Check out their site for info on this before ordering.

It's all good!Strengths: Price, capacity, performance, temperature, noise. Weakness: None Samsung has a winner with the T166 series. With previous models they gained a well deserved reputation for being cool and quiet but can now boast top-tier performance as well. There's really nothing not to like here, which usually cannot be said with other manufacturers as there always seems to be some compromise. So far so good!Strengths: Very quiet. fast. Great price. Weakness: None so far This drive seems faster than any other brand I have used. My system is really very quiet now. Never realized just how loud last drives were. Plus it was considerably cheaper!

Strengths: Quiet, Fast.
Weakness: Not long lasting
Had this inside my media player, all was fine until one day it started making clicking sounds, then it died. Unacceptable that it's life span was 6 months. Lucky it was still under warranty but I hate dealing with that stuff, I have better things to do.
