The system is expandable to include a total of 10 handsets with charging cradles (available separately). This TRU9466 base system includes one handset, and is the only one of the expandable system that requires connection to a phone jack. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset and the base speakerphone, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three dialed numbers at the touch of a button, activate five-way conference calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission. You can transfer incoming calls between the handset and base, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). A page button lets you quickly locate a handset if it's strayed under the couch cushions. The base is wall mountable or sits sturdily on a countertop, supplying you plenty of display options; a total of 20 different ring tones (10 tones, 10 melodies) give you a variety of choices. Uniden provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service. Finally a Quality 2 Line Digital Phone that Works...Strengths: Two phone lines, 5.8 GHz frequency, Caller ID with Name, Conferencing, no answering machine Weakness: Telephone cord is too long for when mounting on wall. I have this phone mounted on the kitchen wall (looks great). Included telephone cord is too long -- bought a 3" one locally for 99 cents. In another room I have a VOIP adapter plugged into the home wiring with a two line splitter so that both lines will work with the existing home wiring; be sure to disconnect your home wiring from the land-line phone company before doing this. The caller ID with...

Good featured 2-line cordlessStrengths: Intercom between handsets, 5.8Ghz frequency, Customized handset naming, relatively inexpensive handsets Weakness: Orange display, long initial battery charge (15-20 hours), not all menu choices documented I've been looking for a 5.8Ghz 2-line phone that wouldn't break the bank and this is it. ~$100 after rebate. Handsets are standardized for Uniden so extra sets can be easily bought in the future. The handsets can be named for easy intercom use. I did have to return first unit - it had scratchy background static. Second unit works fine.

Great Quality, Easy ExpandabilityStrengths: Voice Quality, Signal Strength Weakness: None I purchased this to replace an older technology 2-line cordless phone that didn't have the range to cover my entire house and had declining quality. I am very pleased with this phone. It has all of the features I could want. One great bonus is that the expansion handsets are very reasonably priced, since they are the same generic handsets all of the Uniden systems now use. It is the 2-line base...

Great PhoneStrengths: Crystal clear on speakerphone as well as handsets Nice distance signal strength and works with my voicemail for message alerts Weakness: no corded base. all the models i have tried that came with a corded base (AT&T, Panasonic and RCA) were terrible and fell apart in less than a year. This phone has the best sound of all the phones i have either owned or used. i can't say how it will last over time however it is a more user friendly phone (after initial setup) than the panasonic 2 line or the AT&T. I have also noticed the 5.8 GHz frequency band this phone uses has a much better range and less interference with other electronics (microwave, wireless internet connections).

Uniden TRU9466Strengths: Easily expandible 2-line phone system with great voice quality at a reasonable price. Weakness: None so far. I was originally going to purchase a Panasonic, but then I saw this in a store and it had all the features I wanted (an answering machine was not necesary) at a lower price. Expansion handsets are less than half the price of the panasonic I was considering. You only need one set of phone lines to connect the master unit to making it unnecessary to rewire for each expansion unit. It has great...

Great 2-line phone, but it does NOT contain an...
Strengths: Intuitive 2-line operation, good sound, decent range, 5.8ghz is WiFi friendly, Mute function (good for telecon's), "do not disturb" function shuts off ringer, backlit btns & scn, easy to add handsets
Weakness: Less-than-obvious indicator when the other line is put on Hold (prone to being applied accidentally) Does NOT contain an answering machine function (PriceGrabber's error).
Despite what PriceGrabber lists, this unit does NOT contain an ANSWERING MACHINE, so don't expect one. It's PriceGrabber's error, so I'm not going to ding this phone's rating for it. I bought one expecting the answering machine and was very disappointed it does not have one - I still kept the phone though. It has a VOICEMAIL INDICATOR function so that if you subscribe to the phone company's voice...
