Toshiba Super Slimline MK4025GAS 40.01 GB Internal...Strengths: Very easy to install, great price. Weakness: OEM version comes with no formatting software, and I could not find any on Toshiba's website (aka you need to know how to use fdisk - for windows install) Drive installs nicely and has all the proper drive mounting connections. Drive is relatively quite although it could be better. Nicely priced drive to a high quility HD. If I would buy again however, I would consider spending a little more to go up to a 5400 rpm.

Toshiba Super Slimline MK4025GAS 40.01 GB Internal...Strengths: 8MB buffer, Quiet, Good value for the money Weakness: It's 4200RPM This is a great replacement drive for an aging lappy, but personally this was used in a notebook hdd enclosure. This puppy is quiet and great for external enclosures or for low power low heat situations. I hardly noticed any heat. The hdd runs off usb bus power with no problem. If you want a little more speed I'd go with the 5400RPM version for a couple of bucks more.

Toshiba Super Slimline MK4025GAS 40.01 GB Internal...Strengths: Very quiet drive, low price, great performance compared to other 4200 RPM drives on par with many 5400 RPM drives Weakness: Spindle speed is slow so high end 5400 RPM drives will outperform. I bought this drive for my Home Theatre PC. It's replacing an already quiet Samsung Spinpoint 60 GB hard disk. With the Samsung drive, I could hear some mechanical coupling which caused a high pitched whine, with the Toshiba drive, that wine is completely gone. Toshiba Super Slimline MK4025GAS 40.01 GB Internal...Strengths: Nothing Weakness: Slow, Noisy I got a Compaq lapotop with this harddrive in it. The HD used to be very slow at times and nosiy too, and finally it crashed miserably after 8 months and I was lucky since my laptop was under warranty. I wont recomment this item to anybody.

MK4025GAS 40GB Hard Drive (IDE, Ultra DMA 133, 4200...Strengths: Works as expected. Weakness: None At This Time. This replacement drive works as expected. The HP Laptops drive stopped working after 7 years. I hope we get as much life out of this drive.

Pooped out after 16 months
Strengths: cheap
Weakness: unreliable, slow, noisy
I got mine when I bought a Toshiba satellite laptop. It was slow (4200rpm) and kinda noisy. It croaked after 16 months of daily use. My thesis was on that drive! For some reason if you buy the drive alone it has a 3 year warranty. If you buy a notebook with it inside you only get 1 year. Its cheap. But if you buy it, plan to make frequent backups.
