Nice Drive WD!

Strengths: Fast, Lots of Space for the price, Standard Molex connector

Weakness: None

Best Buy had these for $90 with no rebate involved. Not bad for a retail drive. I've been running this drive as my video capture drive and have not encountered any problems with the drive at all. The 300 MB/s transfer rate will never be achieved but it is faster than my IDE or other SATA drives in my machine. I really like being able to choose using a regular Molex connector or the SATA power...

Straightforward HDD.

Strengths: Easy to install. Cheaper than the bigger drives in the same family (especially after some retailers massive rebates, presumably to reduce stock and make room for the 500GB monster). NCQ.

Weakness: None yet.

CompUSA had a $90 rebate on these drives over Labor Day weekend and a sale price of $139.99. Lucky for me Best Buy had a sale price of $99. Two quick price matches later, and I was the proud owner of 2 of these drives for $10/each after rebate. Installed both of these in RAID 0 setup in a machine with a motherboard that had the nForce 590 SLI chipset (the ASUS M2N32-SLI). I didn't use the...

Best buy for the money!

Strengths: Super fast! and a 16 mb cache that is and awsome buy at a hundred dollars! I payed $150 two months ago.

Weakness: Quite you can barely tell if it is running or not. only 250 gigs.

If you are a college student who is using a hard drive alot for movies and games this hard drive is great. It is fast and has a great cache. At 250 gigs you can hold like 50 dvd images on it or like 400 cd images. I have 14 games and am always backing up dvds with it. For the current price of $100 you cant beat it.

WD Caviar SE16MB / 250GB / 7200RPM / 300MB/Sec /...

Strengths: The title says it all. Extremely fast, extremely quiet, extremely dependable, and at this price ... whoa! I got 3 to stripe and they FLY!!!

Weakness: I haven't found any yet. I'll let you know if I do!

Western Digital does it again. I don't understand how they can manufacture drives of this quality with all these features and sell them at these prices. Case in point: NO OTHER manufacturer has 16MB cache SATA-2 250GB drives under $125.00, let alone at these prices! Silent, fast, and dependable ... an unbeatable combination!

Caviar SE16 250GB Hard Drive

Strengths: SATA II, 16MB Cache, fast, good price

Weakness: one year warranty only, noisy and high temperature compared with my WD Caviar SE 250GB (JS series, SATA II, 8MB Cache) bought 1.5 years ago

I bought this HD during Labor Day sale. No big issues thus far though two things bother me: it runs a little bit noisy and hot (my JS series WD is pretty quiet and cool. I use hdtune to monitor the temp.)

Good drive for the price...

Strengths: 250GB, 16MB Cache, SATA II (3.0Gb/s)

Weakness: No NCQ for some odd reason.

This is a good drive for the price. I actually got it at CompUSA after rebate for $50 which is the cheapest I have been able to find for a SATA II drive. It runs well in RAID 0 format. The only problem I have with the drive is that for some reason Western Digital decided to not include NCQ in these drives, which for the most part isn't a problem except that to use Intel Viiv you have to have NCQ...

A good drive

Strengths: Stable, fast, and calm

Weakness: not yet

I am using this drive for my video collection. I have been using it for about three months without any problems. It doesn't have any noise even though I use it more than four hours. It is a very good drive, overall.

WD 250GB Hard Drive

Strengths: SATA II, 16MB Cache, fast, quiet, good price for size and specs

Weakness: runs warm

I have 3 of these drives in Raid 5 setup without any problems. I would recommend a fan on these drives as they run warm. Noise level is acceptable. There is a four pin molex connector as well as the serial power connector. For the price and performance I am very satisfied with this drive.
