they are advertising a product as a retail box and actually selling oem product--- main problem with that is that the product is advertising a rebate which is only good on the retail box purchase if a customer buys this product expecting a rebate they will be very disappointed---also not a fair comparison for retailers who are selling what is advertised i did call to let them know they acted like it was a mistake then two days later instead of removing it they lowered the price and left it there Overall Rating

I guess I should have read the other guy's review. These guys are selling OEM product, not retail (packaged in the manufacturers packaging). I received my product without the MFG installation disk, and it appears to be defective as well. I get a bad feeling about these guys. I hope I get a full refund, but I suspect they will find some way to charge the restocking fee, and I'm stuck with the shipping costs back to them. Overall Rating

I had to wait almost 10 days + I filnally received an obviously used (dirty, non-working) tape backup... for $437 ???????? I was under the impression that I was buying SONY DAT Drive... Do not buy there - get it for more money, but surely new and original from buy.com Overall Rating

The mouse we ordered that was shown as a "whitebox item" when we received it was a refurbished unit. In addition, it took more than 2 weeks to recieve our order that was shipped standard ground. Overall Rating

Advertised the lowest price on an external Sony SDT11000 at $825 a couple of weeks ago. Sent what was clearly an internal unit put in an external LaCie case and the tape backup software reports the unit as an SDT10000. Did not return phone call on 8/2/01 when promising a return phone call within 30 minutes from 12:30 pm CST. No warranty papers from Sony were included in the shipment. They sent 1 email citing a "mix up" but did not offer to send us the correct unit and SONY warranty. BEWARE!! Overall Rating

Ordered some modems which came with an assortment of incorrect power plugs. 1 of the 5 products worked right. Bought 5 and received 1 set of documentation and 1 cd. Half the power supplies had the label peeled off, and the 2 that didn't fit the modems but didn't work. I ended up having one usable modem and sending the other mess back. The RMA process was at least a success, even though I misplaced the invoice a phone rep helped me prepare an RMA. Overall Rating

The lowest price for a SBLive! MP3+ 5.1 soundcard was from Compuvest. The description noted it was packaged in a "white box". That's fine - good price - probably OEM. I ordered it, and when it arrived, it was packaged in bubble wrap with a CD-R disk containing drivers. However, none of the drivers would install, and the driver for the 5.1 board from the SB WEB site said it wasn't a SBLive 5.1 board. So, I sent it back. Compuvest misrepresented it. I don't recommend Compuvest. Overall Rating

For the most part, I have gotten good service from them and there prices are among the lowest. Had a problem with shipping, but they refunded the difference eventually. All the products have been as advertised, although I was fooled on a retail versus oem rebate on a cd-rw writer. However, even without the rebate, their price was still the lowest. If you know exactly what you want, then they can be a good deal. Overall Rating

They did the same to me as hankrtg, from MD. Ordered 9/4. I got the SB MP3+ with bubble wrap and a bad cdr. Installed it into my new system 9/24. Downloaded drivers said it wasn't a 5.1 board. They want me to pay for all shipping and 15% restocking fee. Nice guys eh? Overall Rating

I ordered a MP3 player from them and it did not come in the orginal packing....therfore I could not take advantage of a 50.00 rebate which would have made the price more attractive. Product came in bubble wrap as if it was a refurbished item. It still worked but I was disapointed in the packaging due to it is a Christmas present. Overall Rating

I ordered a sound card that came with a cd-r full of drivers. The sound card does not work, I sent it back 2 weeks ago. Still no word, nobody knows where it is. Now that I have read everybody elses comments, I will never buy from compuvest and will advise my friends to shop anywhere else. I guess that cheap price comes with cheep products and service. I hope that somebody from that company reads some of these comments. Overall Rating

I ordered a mouse but received a different, less expensive model without software that was in a small package, with a sticker saying "for sale with a new PC only." I also had trouble contacting their tech. support; they at first refused to refund my purchase, claiming there's a disclaimer on the website saying that I might not receive the "exact model" advertised (no such disclaimer exists), but once I threatened to e-mail piracy@logitech.com, they suddenly agreed on refunding item + shipping. They advertised the product as retail box but didn't include a box, drivers, software, or any of the items explicitly listed as being part of the package. Also, I already owned the product myself- I wanted another as a gift- and what they sent didn't even closely resemble my own! Customer service never responded. While Compuvest is 'cheap,' it's worth the extra 5-10 dollars to get what you ordered in the first place, instead of (I suspect) refurbished no-name trash. Overall Rating

(Edited November 02nd by rkiran)  Blatant product misrepresentation. Disgusting customer service. Yes, they almost always have the lowest prices on the web and their shipping charges are also nominal; however, three of my orders (out of four) were incorrect. The products shipped were not what was described on the web site. An incorrect motherboard and a Seagate drive WITHOUT a valid Seagate serial number are two examples. On top of that, they have a 15% restocking fee - even when the fault is theirs! Overall Rating

After reading the bad reviews, I called Compuvest to order some bare hard drives. Spoke with a LIVE person to confirm items were in stock, priced as advertised, and if they were OEM or packaged items. In short, they shipped one day later than promised (but UPS delivered early). The package was a bit flimsy but everything I ordered was correct, as priced for items and shipping, and all items in fine condition. I would recommend this merchant. Overall Rating

I called them up checking on a CDRW because, YES, they did have the lowest price. I wanted to order 4pcs. for my business. I opened up a business credit application just to find out they sold the product and did NOT put it on hold as promised. Ridiculous! Overall Rating

I ordered a monitor and forgot to enter the expiration date of the card (for some reason, it's not required). I made several attempts at calling but every voice mailbox was full so I could not even leave a message. After sending them a 'rather verbal' email, they cancelled my order without even telling me. I guess it's a good thing because based on the other reviews I've read, they probably would have gotten it wrong. Overall Rating
