Don't be fooled by the 5.8GHzStrengths: Dual Handsets, so that at least u can put one in a room without phone jack Weakness: Noise, static; no intercomm mode between handsets Don't be fooled by the 5.8GHz, it's 5.8GHz analog, which offers the same quality as a 900MHz, or even worse. 100% of readers found this review helpful. reiew for uniden dxai5588 coreless phoneStrengths: 5.8Ghz, answering machine Weakness: Bad signal I bought this phone 3 days ago. Overall result is good. The worst thing is that sometimes the signal is very bad. I can not hear what others said over the phone. But most time it's great working condition. If you can tolerate temporary interruption of phone. This one is your choice. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

uniden dxai5588-2 cordless phoneStrengths: this has much clarity than the 900mhz & 2.4ghz phones in shorter range Weakness: much distortions in longer range than 900mhz &2.4ghz phones. if you are using only inside the home ,this is a pretty good buy for the money.this is cheepest answering machine with 2 handsets,i have seen yet.i feel very rare chance for a crosstalk at shorter range due to high freq operation.there is non need change the channels also. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Fantastic Cordless PhoneStrengths: -Many features common to more expensive models -Great service both inside and outside of home -Sound quality best of any cordless ever owned Weakness: Standup set only (would prefer lying down) but very usable This Cordless Phone is the best model our family has ever purchased and much less costly than others that have fewer features. The sound quality is great both inside and outside the home. One would think this model should be priced much more. Its only drawback is that it is a standup and we prefer lying down models, but its other features far outweight this small issue. A great bargain and even comes with two handsets!! 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Don't buy this phoneStrengths: cheap 5.8 GHz phone Weakness: Static and poor reception Don't buy this phone. It's crap. You get what you pay for. Once you move from the room with the base unit, the reception drops and static occurs. I found a friend who also bought this phone and he is having the same problems. If we talk to each other on the these phones, we barely can hear each other. We will not buy another phone from Uniden. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Good condition for this priceStrengths: good voice quality, low price, multi-function Weakness: charger is a little warm after some hours this is not as bad as someone as on amazon.com, voice quality may vary due to different environment. In my house, it is good. Especially for this price, I should not expect more. just the charger become warm after used couple hours, but it is acceptable. 50% of readers found this review helpful. This is a terrible phoneStrengths: Good set of features, and easy to program. Weakness: Reception past 25ft is non-existant. High-pitched screeching tones interrupt conversations (not call waiting). Look past this phone. I purchased one yesterday, and will return it tonight. It is completely unusable in my environment. At 25ft it breaks up, and I get these unbelievable high-pitched screeching tones that must be from some kind of local interference. Noise is introduced into from virtually every source. The manual recommends that when you get loud static you should turn off your fluorescent lights, microwave, TV or computer. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Terrible PhoneStrengths: It does not interfere with my wireless system Weakness: Poor reception - very hard to hear the person talking on the phone - battery life is terrible We have had this phone for 6 months and we have finally had enough. Today we are going to purchase a new phone. The batteries are no longer functional, when I call home I can barely hear the person on the phone talking, the range of the phone to the hand set is terrible. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? This is junk, don't buy one!Strengths: It was inexpensive (thus you get what you pay for) Weakness: No intercom between handsets, no speakerphone so if you're on hold you can't set the phone down and work while you wait, no phonebook/directory, and the worst thing of all is the POOR reception. The worst thing for this phone is the static. I can't believe it's a 5.8 GHz, you pretty much have to hold still when you get a position that has no static. It's very CHEAP. We bought it for Christmas because it was a good deal at Sears, but we're returning it and going back to Panasonic. We will never buy Uniden again. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Can't use more than one at a timeStrengths: Uniden has always been a good brand for me, and I haven't had any signal or quality issues with it. Weakness: The handsets work only one at a time, so you can't use both of them - like for family calls during the holidays. I will be returning this phone - while it sounds okay, the inability to use both handsets at once is a problem. I don't know if this is an issue with other phones or not, but I've never encountered it if it is. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Great PhoneStrengths: Easy to use, clear signal, affordable price, double handset, digital answer machine. Weakness: None I bought this phone for my mom a couple of months ago. She really loves it. The keypad has large numbers and letters so it is a lot easier for seniors to use. The messages left on the answer machine can be accessed from the headset so it is not disturbing others when you are listening to the messages. Highly recommended! UNIDEN DXAI5588-2 Phone SystemStrengths: Inexpensive for a 5.8 GHz phone Dual handsets Weakness: Poor range Poor reception Dropped calls No speakerphone No call timer Small address book Limited CID memory A big disappointment from a big name manufacturer. It is 5.8 Ghz but it is analog. Range of the set is very limited. Can store only 30 numbers in CID. I liked the DCT758-2 which is a 2.4GHZ also from Uniden. Got this to replace the 2.4 Ghz set. It is going Goodwill for someone who may have more patience to deal with this. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

It's OK for the price
Strengths: Inexpensive replacements for my 2.4 GHz phones (that keep interfering with my WiFi signal).
Weakness: Poor reception and doesn't measure up to my old 900 MHz Uniden
This phone does have some static, especially if you're too far away from it (as I have a large backyard). Usage within the house is good enough. The battery life also seems to be good. The plus of having the second handset is that I don't have to add a phone outlet to one of the rooms in my house that doesn't already have one.
I've bought some Uniden products in the past and think that this one is probably the lowest quality so far. But, even though it's not as good as my old 900 MHz Uniden, I'd still try a Uniden brand product again in the future. Also, at least this one doesn't interfere with my WiFi like my 2.4 GHz.
