Jasc Paint Shop v.8.0 Pro

Strengths: it is easy to learn, there are many tutorials you can use, and fun to design things!

Weakness: not great for total beginners

you can make website layouts, banners, anything you want! it's really great to use and is very easy once you learn the basics, then you can expand on your knowledge of this program. i am still learning various things even though i've had it nearly a half year now, GREAT PROGRAM!! i recommend it to anyone

Good for an older version

Strengths: Editing capabilities are quite comprehensive for the price

Weakness: No manual and a less-than-perfect help system. Leaves itself in memory after you've exited the program at times. Animation Shop 3 that comes with it doesn't support PSP version 8 files.

Make absolutely sure you're okay with just a CD. No documentation other than the help files, and they leave some things out. Also make sure you don't mind rebooting now and then - either that, or using a Task Manager-type app to terminate the program from memory when it doesn't close itself out completely.

Strengths: Does most everything that Photoshop can do for about 1/20th of the price.

Weakness: Interface takes a little getting used to after Photoshop.

I've been a long time user of Photoshop. I recently purchased PSP8 for home use after reading about how it stacks up against Photoshop.

I find both programs to be worthwhile. It took a little time to get used to the PSP8 interface but now I feel it was well worth paying so little for a program that does so much. I miss some of the ease of Photoshop but it just takes time to adjust to a new program.

I cannot say that I was ever an expert at Photoshop so I don't know exactly how functionality differs between the two programs. As for PSP8 on its own, I have had the opportunity to use it on various occasions recently and it is growing on me.

Strengths: The abundance and use-ease of filtering tools.

Weakness: Nothing-it's great!

I bought this software after reading PC WORLDS'S Camera guy, Dave Johnson's column, that I subscribed to about a year ago. I was just a complete novice with photograph editing. You know the routine-"quick fix" and you're done.
I noticed that he used Paint Shop Pro in his teaching tips. I really didn't want to spend $100.00 for the software, but with all the rebates I received, it was a real BARGAIN. I really should be thanking Dave for this; I have learned, with his teaching, to use all of the filtering tools with ease. All in all I am completely satisfied with this software. In fact, about a month or two when they put out an update, Jasc sent me a new program disk for it. Great company. Check out Dave's column over at PC World.

Strengths: Easy to learn. I really like the clarifying option. Other filtering options work great, too. There are lots of options that allow you to do almost anything you want.

Weakness: It is a memory hog, and I would imagine might be slow if you have anything less than a PIII type machine.

I have been using PSP for about 2 months now, and there are some options I would rather use in it than the older version (5.0) of Photoshop that I also have. An example is the clarify option - it works great whereas my Photoshop tends to over sharpen sometimes. The price of PSP is very reasonable given the flexibility that the software package offers. Even though some of the options may be a little difficult to understand, the manual that comes with the retail version does a pretty good job explaining.

I also have an AMD 2.7 GHz processor with 512MB of motherboard memory and 128MB of graphics memory running W98SE. My machine runs fine, but sometimes gets low on memory resources if I'm doing other memory or graphical intensive stuff. The problem tends to go away when I close out PSP.

Strengths: Comprehsiveness of features and ease of use.

Weakness: None

I find this product more comprehensive and easier to use than what I originally used (Microsoft Picture It). The red-eye and one-click corrections work wonderfully. I think you get the most and best features you'll need, at a reasonable price.

Jasc Paint Shop v.8.0 Pro

I initially purchased this product based on the fine recomendation given by PC Magazine. Price was not a major factor, but certainly was a consideration. This is, in my opinion, is one of the best choices I've made regarding software. I was initially a little overwhelmed by the volume of information, and available functions of this program, but after a few weeks I have become quite adept at moving about the many icons and steps. The end result..I am now turning out photos that rival work done on a pro level.To Jasc and PC Magazine, I offer a hearty "Thank you!"

Strengths: Installed and working great with no hassles

Weakness: nothing at this time

Made order on a Friday and received in seven business days... and that is including a holday! Immediatly installed and running with no problems. Have already referred a friend to the site and will be back for more.

Strengths: Pro features. I like the action scripts.

Weakness: Adjustment windows not photoshop like.

Received Paint Shop Pro 8 in four days and everything including registration of the product worked fine. I had to uninstall my trial version before installing the new program but everything works great. Thanks R R

Strengths: don't know how to use it so don't see any strengths yet. HELP???

Weakness: following the directions.. figuring out how to use the product.

I tried to leave a review on your web site but it won't let me write anything. I recently purchased a Paint Shop Pro 8 (Full Product, PC). I find the manual almost unuseable.. too technical for me unfortunately. It is very hard to find things and to figure out how to use them. I'm not sure about layering things etc. I would love to have a video or someone to look over my shoulder to tell me what to do step by step. HELP !!!! I love what you say you can do.. just don't know how to do it. I also use Print shop deluxe and it works great and is user friendly. I wish your product was as easy to use.

Paintshop pro version 8

Strengths: Very flexible. Able to do most anything the higher priced boys can do.

Weakness: None encountered.

Well worth the money. I have had the same program before and was just replacing it due to a lost computer in hurricane Katrina. I tried the later version ( version ten by Corel)and did not like the user interface.
