Strengths: Tough aluminum housing, drive activity light, lightweight, comes with a USB power cord and data cord (most others make you purchase one because they are not included), easy to setup out of the box
Weakness: Some adverts show a combination power/data USB adapter for this housing which I would have preferred since it saves me from having to use both USB ports on my Macbook Pro, leaving me none free.
I needed a housing to put the drive in which I replaced in my MacBook Pro. Since I was using this exclusively with a Mac, I decided to go with Macally due to my good experiences with their products in the past. I also decided on this unit because it came with the USB power cord included which most other units do not; they make you jump through hoops to purchase it separately, if there is one available at all. As stated above, I would have preferred a combo-cord to keep one USB port free.
Many people have complained about the small philips-head screws for the housing's access but I just used the smallest screwdriver I have for it and it worked fine. You can get one at your local hardware for less than $5.
It works great, looks great and it's done nothing but make me happy!
Wow! The BEST I have seen yet.
