tried it twiceStrengths: quick and quiet Weakness: blunt and broken pencils First one I had within three months was only sharpening down one side of the pencils. They replaced it and within 4 months it was sharpening the pencils, but somehow it would break them about 1/4" down so when you would go to write it would fall out. Certainly not worth the money. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Boston School Pencil SharpenerStrengths: Large holder for shavings, multiple pencil sizes, cord length Weakness: Became dull after about 7 months, breaks pencil lead (graphite) when dull I returned my first one after about 7 months because it was breaking the pencil lead (graphite) when sharpening inexpensive pencils. Boston replaced it with an E-ACTO. It became dull after about 7 months and is now breaking pencil lead again. Can't use it and Boston tells me there is no way to replace the blades. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Not good for school, not continuousStrengths: Pretty colors Weakness: It is not reliable This pencil sharpener lasted five weeks in a second grade classroom in St. Paul, MN. Now it overheats in five minutes. The kids tested it and it failed big time. The teacher does not approve, I am sure. This is not a good product and I do not recommend buying it at all. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Jan 10, 2006 This product has, and always has had, a two year warranty.... I and many of my coworkers have used this model in classrooms for years with no problems. Mine did started making a funny noise after 18 months of perpetual school use (35 kids) so I e-mailed the parent company (Elmers.com) with a short description and they said they would send out a new cutting head at no charge. 5 days later I received a whole new sharpener. Simple, painless, and two years later, still going strong.

Don't buy itStrengths: Worked great for about a month Weakness: It stops working quickly Students complained after a month that it wasn't sharpening their pencils. And people wonder why schools pay so much money out...they need supplies that last longer than the school year!!! And supplies that they shouldn't be buying yearly. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Boston School Pro is a keeper!Strengths: This sharpener is quiet. It sharpens very fast. I like the see-through shavings container...it helps to know when to empty. Weakness: I sure haven't found any weaknesses. I'm very satisfied. My 1st graders love this pencil sharpener. It is lightning fast and sharpens into a short sharp point. I have not found a pencil yet that it will not sharpen. I have 2 electric sharpeners, but my class will only use this one, due to it's ease of use. It is very quiet and gets the job done quickly. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Boston School Pro Pencil SharpenerStrengths: Sharpens even pencils that are coated and jam up other sharpeners. Sharpens various sizes of pencils. This is the best pencil sharpener I have ever used. It sharpens everything including pencils wrapped in pretty coatings. We have one in every classroom in our school. You will love this sharpener! 67% of readers found this review helpful. Oct 6, 2006 Give it time--I was in love with mine, too, until it started sharpening only one side of the pencil, taking FOREVER to sharpen the pencil, and, after sharpening it, the lead breaking off down into the wood. Definitely not worth the money!

Boston School ProStrengths: Love the way you can empty it, it's really easy for students to do by themselves. It's kind of heavy so that is really good for counter type sharpeners. I really like the price as well. Thanks! I really like the overall product, it's easy enough for students to empty by themselves, and has the heavy weight that counter top sharpener needs, and the price wasn't half bad either. 50% of readers found this review helpful. junkStrengths: the first few weeks it works great Weakness: after the honeymoon...it's divorce court I thought I was buying a "heavy-duty" sharpener and spent nearly $70 for it last year thinking I would save money in the long run. Nope. It worked great for the first month or so, then, you had to push the pencil in for a long time to get it sharpened and eventually the motor would seize. Hey, what do you want to be that this piece of _____ is made in China? Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? TopCompare PricesAdvertisement

IF I COULD RATE IT A ZERO I WOULD.
Strengths: None
Weakness: Motor Blow Out In Two Months, Poor Workmanship, Falsely Advertised
My Exacto Boston School Pro Pencil Sharpener rating needs to be ZERO because it is a ZERO.
We live in a school district that still send to the classroom and endorses the hand crank pencil sharper that screw on the wall. This is a bad idea in the classroom especially when you have 20-25 students in the class room, lined up to sharpen their pencils in the morning. The students would spend 30 minutes in the morning just to sharpen pencils. This product is advertised as SCHOOL PRO that teachers endorsed, “SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR CLASSROOM USE. THE ONLY KID-TESTED, TEACHER-APPROVED ELECTRIC PENCIL SHARPENER” so I thought it would be a good idea for my daughter’s class, what a mistake.
I bought 4 of them for second grade classes in the building, and kept one for my home, as when it is homework time we need pencils with 3 children in the house. They were all loud, would only work for 5 pencils then shut down for at least an hour, and after only 2 months of use they all completely broke one after another. The motor would quit working and internal mechanism failed. When I gave out the pencil sharpeners I was hailed as a hero but when they broke I was scorned. I used their return policy and got all new pencil sharpeners, but the replacements all broke within 2 months also.
What I have learned from this experience is only buy a commercial grade sharpener for a class room, ask around, do research on what you are buying, read the reviews and believe them they bought it so that person would know. I had read bad reviews on this product, but I thought that person just got a bad one, but when it happened to me, I felt taken advantage of. I paid $40 each for the 5 I bought totaling $200 what an expensive lesson. If I could rate it a ZERO I would. This pencil sharpener is junk, don’t waist your money.
