Drive FailsStrengths: plug and play ease Weakness: totally unreliable I was looking for a drive to use as my mac's Time Machine backup and was directed to this drive by a third party sales rep. It worked OK for a while, but eventually stopped running Time Machine and became unmountable. Disk Utility was not even able to erase and reformat it. I got an RMA from Buffalo Tech and they replaced it. The exact same thing happened to the second drive. My only option is to replace it again through Buffalo. I do not want this drive as I have no faith in it any longer and I am also out a great deal of time, frustration and the costs to ship both drives back to the manufacturer. DriveStation Combo 4 is a JOKEStrengths: In Theory the 800iee port Weakness: On my 2nd unit....Poorly designed system: Power, ports, EVERYTHING This unit on paper looks great but in reality......It is a joke. I have sent back 2 of them and it is poorly designed and unreliable. Don't waste your time, energy or data on this drive. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

DIDN'T EVEN LAST 4 MONTHS!!!
Strengths: Cheap.. till it breaks
Weakness: Unreliable, Poorly made, Extremely expensive in the end, Short lived, BUFFALO TECHNOLOGY won't stand behind it!!!
I bought this hard drive in March and put about 500 gigs of info on it and last week, when I turned it on, a message came up on my computer saying, "The disk you have inserted contains no volumes that mac osx can read. Initialize, ignore, or eject". Called Buffalo Tech's customer service and they said, "You could try Disk Warrior and if that doesn't work send it to a disk data recovery service." Well I shelled out $100 for the Disk Warrior software and guess what? It did nothing. So now I'm either going to be out another $300-$600, IF I should be so lucky that my data isn't lost forever. So a $150 hard drive has now turned into a $250-$850 dollar hard drive AND is utterly USELESS to boot... all in less than 4 months!!!!!
