Excellent External Hard Drive With Working eSATA

Strengths: Quiet, stylish design, very small enclosure, fast over eSATA

Weakness: No eSATA cable included, only one year AcomData warranty

I have tried many external hard drives and have had problems with the eSATA on them, but with this drive the eSATA works perfectly. The drive inside the enclosure is a WD GreenPower drive so is quiet. HDTach reports burst speeds of 217MB/s and average read speeds of 62.8MB/s over eSATA. Much faster than any speeds you'll see over firewire or USB 2.0. No eSATA cable is included and the warranty is only one year (but a check of the hard drive serial number shows a valid 3 year warranty on the Western Digital site). This is a very good hard drive for someone looking for lots of storage space in a stylish small enclosure with fast eSATA transfer speeds. Recommended!

Is it on?

Strengths: Very quite. Looks great. Fast transfer times. Lots of storage.

Weakness: None

This drive is so quite you'll wonder if it's working. I've had hard drives in my computer that were louder than this external hard drive. The blue light is pretty neat and lets you know it's really working. The transfer times have been pretty quick so far. The actual storage space is less than 1TB but i'll never fill it.

Excellent external drive

Strengths: Attractive silent fast

Weakness: ugly blue light

This is a nicely built case with a nice drive inside (a WD). The eSATA and USB interfaces are both very functional and fast. No noisy fans, either. The only down sides perhaps are that I don't like the power light and that, due to OS restrictions, it can be hard to remove the eSATA-connected drive without shutting down first (not a fault of this drive, though). If you need external storage, you should consider this.

AcomData's customer/tech support is awful. I submitted a query on November 22, and inspite of their "You will receive a response within 3 working days" promise, I still have not received any reply.

Their warranty promise is also troublesome: The shipping box, and their PDF sheet say 1 year, but the warranty card says three -so which is which
