Good Product

Strengths: Easy to install and use 320GB memory on USB power (no AC adapter needed) Portable

Weakness: None found yet

This nifty drive rescued my laptop. Its 80G hard drive was full. I need more drive space and a back-up drive for important documents.

With the Signature Mini Black Cherry External Portable 320GB Hard Drive I was able to free up a lot of space on my laptop, expand my total storage capacity and have plenty of room for a full backup of my internal laptop drive.

The included software is easy to use and works well.

Black Cherry 320G as a Macbook HD upgrade

Strengths: Case is easily opened after voiding the warranty and removing the two screws under the warranty sticker

Weakness: Security software doesn't work on a Mac with the latest OS.

I used it to upgrade my Macbook HD from 180G to 320G. My old drive is now in the USB case. Both drives work great.

Style and Performance

Strengths: huge capacity; unbeatable looks, feel, and size

Weakness: no AC power cord included; did have usb/miniusb connection

this little portable drive is awesome; only complaint is that i had small issues when connecting on one laptop computer at work; worked like a champion everywhere else

Beautiful but not quite durable...

Strengths: beautiful, sleek design

Weakness: surface easily scratched

Purchased this item two years ago because of its sleek design. Noticed that the felt finishing on the top was wearing off a little after several weeks of carrying it around in a backpack. The black plastic side stripes were also scratched easily. Several months ago, the USB contact started giving me some trouble and finally had to swap out the drive into another enclosure box. Overall, I am reasonably satisfied with the product given the level of abuse I have put it through in the last two years.

Solid back-up tool

Strengths: light, small, functional

Weakness: none so far

I'm using that as a regular back-up device for my Linux machine using rssync (think Mac Time Machine). Everything worked plug-and-play and I haven't had any problems. Seems decently fast, too. I usually use it plugged in, but it works fine using the second USB-plug for phantom power, too.

I picked this mainly for size and price, it's not the fastest of flash drives (as you can tell by the specs) but it's perfectly adequate for what I want.

Signature Mini Black Cherry External 320GB Hard Drive

Strengths: A no brainer to use. Compact and therefore very portable. Easy to hook up. Instructions are very understandable.

Weakness: First one was defective.

When calling tech support, they said to wait 20-30 seconds after you plug the USB into the computer before plugging the cord into the external, which wasn't in the instructions. I accidentally didn't do this on several occasions but it didn't seem to make a difference. I now own 3 of these (the other 2 are 60 gig) and they're great. Never had a hiccup. I like the fact that they require no external power.

Slick drive, but mine was faulty

Strengths: Really nice enclosure, quiet, well thought out.

Weakness: It would heat up and stop working after a few hours. Very flaky.

I probably just got a defective unit, but the seller was unwilling to replace it. The design was good, very small, good for travel. I didn't like the pig-tailed USB cable, but that wasn't a show stopper.

Looks Great...performs well too...

Strengths: Looks and feels good. Fast data transfer. No issues with setup, just plugged and my laptop detected it.

Weakness: none till now

Looks beautiful and at the same time performs well as I have used it to backup lot of files from my laptop without any issues. Comes with the Y shaped USB cable to connect to two USB ports as power from one might not be enough. But I just plugged in one and my lappy was provide enough power for it.

Great product for cheap

Strengths: small, light, easy to travel with

Weakness: none that i see....

I bought this so I could take it around with me, I use to have a big external harddrive to lug around, so I upgraded to this one and I love it! There is no reason you should buy a more expensive name brand when you get the exact same product in an attractive presentation.

External Portable hard drive

Strengths: Easy to use. Just works, no problems to use. 320 GB is a lot of storage for the small size

Weakness: Registration of the product is harder than I expected. But the use of the product has no weaknesses that I have observed.

Easy to use. I was out of town on a business trip when it arrived and my wife set it up and used it before I got back.
Am able to use with only one USB connection to my HP laptop.

Slim and beautiful with attitude

Strengths: Slim and beautiful

Weakness: Vista 64 bit did not detect the hard disk

I wanted XBOX 360 to play media via this portable hard drive so I can achieve better quality than streaming through a media center extender from PC. I formatted the drive in XFS format (using MacDrive software) and it has worked like charm since then.

The only caveat is that my PC running 64-bit Vista OS was not able detect the drive no matter what I try. So I connected it using my laptop running 32-bit Vista.

New 320GB portable drive arrives in town

Strengths: Small compact size perfect for laptops. As soon as I plugged the USB cable into my laptop it recognized it right away

Weakness: Don't lose the cable the Simpletech drive came with. A standard mini USB cable for digital cameras or the WD 320GB drive won't work with this drive.

I think the drive comes in very compact plastic packaging compared to other 320gb portable drives. The drive ships with Arcsoft's Total Media Backup and Record already on the hard drive for installation. It does an adequate job of backing up your files but falls short of doing an image backup. It also burns CD's and audio CD's. Overall it's decent software.

Very Pleased!!

Strengths: Ease of use and capicity. The extra USB plug for added power would have to be a plus in that circumstance

Weakness: None found yet

I was suffering computer slowness because of my Music and Photo files!! I have used my Black Cherry to relieve that. It has really saved the day and I no longer have to worry about my old computer crashing and losing everything. I am very pleased with the product.
