Symantec Norton SystemWorks 2003Strengths: Software Disk doubles as decorative beverage coaster. Weakness: It doesn't work with Panther Salesman at Symantec was incredibly pompous. Neglected to point out that the software doesn't work with Panther. Spent hours installing it and trying to get Disk Doctor to work. Spent more hours trying to find anything about it on their website and on hold to their help line. Finally told that I can choose one of the following options: 1) Wait til FEBRUARY when they MIGHT have the upgrade ready (but it will be a download so how do I make a boot disk to launch Disk Doctor??>?) or 2) I can return it for a refund. These people JUST. DONT. CARE. 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Symantec Norton SystemWorks 2003Strengths: Price after rebate, I thought. Weakness: It will not install properly and I can not get LiveUpdate to down load updated Virus definitions. Keep on get error messages. No help from Symantec's on line Support either. I purchased Norton SystemWorks 2003 because I already owned Norton SystemWorks 2002 and the Rebated offer was to good to be true. I didn't have much trouble with the SystemWorks 2002 so why not try 2003, it should be improved and better than the 2002 version? Was I wrong! Hows that old saying go "if something is to good to be true, it's probably not good at all". Well Norton SystemWorks 2003 isn't worth the price of stamp to send in the rebate forms and I wouldn't take it now if someone paid me to use it, but I would give it to my worst enemy! Will I can do that to anyone so I hope the retailer will take it back. 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Symantec Norton SystemWorks 2003Strengths: One button scans complete system for problems or potential problems and one button fixes the things it finds. One more button scans whole system for viruses. Also I could not live without Ghost!!! Weakness: Seriously, I can't think of one at the moment. I have used Systemworks pro on Intel based PC computers for several years. I support hundreds of computers and dozens are running Norton Systemworks Pro 2002 and 2003 versions. I have the fewest support issues with those systems. And the fact that Ghost will let me make a clone of the hard drive onto a CD is fantastic. I have had complete hard drive crashes take place due to crappy hard drives and the clone has a new drive back up and running in minutes without having to reinstall a single program unless it was added since the clone was made. A real life saver for me and my clients! I will never quit buying and using Norton Systemworks Professional! The reason I stopped to write this review was because I am about to search Pricegrabber for the 2004 version. 80% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Symantec Norton SystemWorks 2003Strengths: works fair on my vpr matrix laptop Weakness: Multiple Problems with installation. Won't install symanyec redirector before another update that it needs to be installed before to work. Won't update virus definitions. This is a terrible product with hideous on-line customer service. The symantec knowledge base is evil and you will spend hours upon hours trying to fix a problem that should be fixed by phone customer service. Symantec has really let me down and doesn't really care. Don't waste your money or more importantly your time with any of their products. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Symantec Norton SystemWorks 2003
Strengths: Easy to Use
Weakness: Slow with the Virus Definitions-A Disaster!!!
The folks at Norton are ASLEEP!!! I download new definitions every day and always have auto protect on. But both my computer at home and here at work carried the W32.Jeefo virus for a month even though I ran virus scans regularly and had auto-protect on. Norton's definition of the W32.Jeefo virus didn't come out until 6/3. McAfee had this virus definition on May 7th!!! By then, when I ran the scan, every file the virus had gotten into during the month that they didn't alert me was destroyed when the file was supposedly "fixed". That was over 800 files on my
computer at home, 400 or more at work. I didn't lose documents (Thank God), and the W2K I run on my work computer seems okay, but XP Professional took a hit at home. After trying to fix it for three days I ended up having to reinstall XP and the 65 updates it has now, as well as around 50 programs. I had to reinstall many programs at work as well. You would think Norton would at least check the definitions their competition has come up with. NOT!!! Norton is NOT reliable!!! Be afraid, be very afraid.

I too (had) Systemworks 2003. I found 24 Trogan viruses had setteled into the system32 folder and were not removed by the Norton system. As far as help from Norton you can forget it. They just don't care about the customer. But beware when uninstalling norton 2003. It left a file on my computer that still to this day hides one of my CD drives after boot up and no help from symantec.
