good

Strengths: multiple functions; excellent sound quality

Weakness: short battery life

I am happy with this phone so far. It looks stylish and the color is freshing. The only complain I have is the short battery life. You need replace the battery in order to get it working for a long conversation. Otherwise, it is a great phone.

Excellent Phone but Worst Battery I have ever used...

Strengths: Nice looking phone. Nice to have 2 lines in one phone with digital answering machine(replaced my old uniden with 2 lines).

Weakness: Heard about the battery problem. I think its better to switch over to NiMH one.

And its good I can add any other compatiable phone not some restriced models only. I will update how it is after couple of weeks.I have had bad experience with panasonic customer service regarding a previous phone, so we have to wait and watch for this one.

Updating after using for 5 months. the original panasonic battery started causing lot of problems. I couldnt even talk for more than 10 minutes with full charge. Bought a new NiMH battery and it has been excellent after that. So definitely look for replacing the battery as soon as possible. After replacement of battery, the phone is excellent. Very bad battery from Panasonic.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: All the right features.

Weakness: Phone distance is terrible. Sound quality of answering machine and outgoing message terrible. NO customer service.

Ok, this phone had all the right features. There are very few two line cordless phones with answering machine to choose from. I have the base unit in the kitchen and I lose the signal when I am only about 15 feet away! No the walls are not made of steel. I can be in site of the base and the people I'm talking to tell me they are "losing" me. I walk back to within about 9 feet of the base and they can hear me again! I even bought an additional handset to use in a different room. Barely works. (I had a 900mhz Radio Shack phone that I replaced because it would not dial out, but that lower technology got a dial tone almost a quarter mile away!) I got a good deal and had no problems with the purchase through EXPO but the phone is terrible. The phone has "mailboxes" but it does not differentiate as to which line the caller called in on. So the business messages are in with the family messages. The sound quality on the playback speaker (or maybe its the chip or internal electronics?) is so poor, I can't even understand many of the phone numbers people leave to call them back. Thanks Panasonic for a real piece of garbage. Oh yes, I e-mailed customer service at Panasonic outlining all the issues and I got a canned response back thanking me for my input as all customer input is appreciated! Huh? I guess they know it's junk and thats all your getting out of them. If you still want this phone after reading this, e-mail me, I'll sell you mine cheap!

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: Multiple handsets, appearance

Weakness: None found to date.

This unit was purchased as a replacement for an older Panasonic 2-line phone (lightning strike). Even with its numerous features, it is very easy to program. The screens on both the base unit and the handset(s) are very readable. The sound quality is just a good as the replaced unit, maybe better. And with the ability to add up to 8 handsets, this unit is excellent for houses that have a limited number of phone jacks.

Don't buy this phone!

Strengths: None worth mentioning.

Weakness: Short battery life. Low volume. Short range from base, to pick up signals for satellite phones. The screens often go blank on three of four satellite phones, so you can't view caller ID.

I've had this phone for more than a year, so based on longer-term use, I can say that I'm very disappointed in this product for the above-mentioned reasons. I thought I'd give it one more chance in my new house, hoping it would somehow work better with different physical distances between phones, but the same problems exist. I'm shopping for a new system right now...

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: Dual keypad & speaker

Weakness: Less battery life

Have explandable option and 2 line capability. Less battery life and additional handsets are expensive. Good phone for the price paid. Need to go for NI MH battery to improve the battery perfomance

A very nice phone with a lot of features.

Strengths: 2 caller IDs. 2.4Ghz does not interfere with wireless internet acess. Great color.

Weakness: Panasonic not the best to deal with in regards with rebates.

This phone is a very good phone with many features. Caller ID on both Handset and on base. I can't say much bad about phone but I got this phone with a rebate sent to Panasonic. And lets just say you might not get that money without a fight and atleast 6-8 months later and many calls.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Phone

Strengths: Speaker phone,Dual keypad,Big hand set,2 caller IDs

Weakness: Very low volume, Message indicator which is hard to see, Expensive and hard to find Extra handsets,

So far this is working fine. but I am dissappointed wiht the handset low volume. Some times it is very hard to hear from the otherperson. The answering machine working fine. But the message indicator light is very hard to see from distance. The handset receiption quality is very good. I liked the speakerphone feature a lot. I haven't had any problems other reviewers mentioned about the short battery life. I haven't replaced the orginal battery. So far no battery problems. It has so many features which I liked. I go this phone in a very good deal with reabtes. So I can't complain about the price. It is worth for the money which I paid.Overall it is a good phone.

great all around fax machine for light to moderate...

Strengths: paper feeds through cleanly, no jams at all. phone is an added bonus in convenience

Weakness: none

first off, replace the battery with the energizer NIMH ER-P511. the standard battery shipped with this item is NICD, with a capacity that doesn't hold the charge very long.

the fax machine is intended for light faxing. it uses paper rather than film (good to save money). prints with an ink film roll rather than ink cartridge (cartridges can be pricier, and also dry out if used infrequently...another good thing)

the phone is great, range, clarity...but it cannot be networked with other panasonic phones. I have another 2.4 ghz answering machine/phone combo...and if the fax machine is set up as a fax machine, I have to use the answering machine on the fax machine. which isn't a bad thing, its just more limited (only has one mailbox vs. my other phone which has 3)

all in all, a great investment for someone who doesn't require heavy duty faxing (ie: sending 20 page faxes)

Lot of features

Strengths: base and handset speakerphones, dialpad 3-lines

Weakness: none

I used this phone for a week and so far everything is good. It has all features that one looks in a cordless phone: base and handset speakerphone, dialpad, callerID and digital answering system with 3 mail boxes, 3 lines of operation, conference option.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: Good range, good set of features

Weakness: Lousy battery

The handset on this phone has a lousy NiCd battery with memory effect. I replaced it immediately with a NiMH battery as I knew over time it would just get weaker. Otherwise, this phone is great. It has good range and both the speakerphones and answering machine work well.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: Excellent Phone.. Good Quality.. Its a panasonic!

Weakness: none

Purchased this phone couple of weeks back and I have been satisfied with the phone. Good Quality. No Static.
One of the best phones I have used. With speaker on base and handset, it comes in very handy.
I had a olympia before this and I wish I would have bought this phone before. No comparisions between these two.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: Excellent Looks and Lot of Features.

Weakness: Battery needs to be replaced with NiMH battery for long lasting talk time.

Overall very good phone with the price I got for. Would suggest to have an additional NiMH battery. The phone has a lot of features which my previous phone did not. Got good looks.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: convenient

Weakness: none

It has two lines, built-in digital answering machine with multiple mailboxes, keypad + speakerphone on the base station, caller-id, plus a great feature I couldn't find on any similar system, nor on Panasonic's more expensive KX-TG2000 and KX-TG4000 systems: a speakerphone in the handsets! This is invaluable when you call a voice-mail system or information service (like Moviefone) which requires you to push keys in response to voice prompts - or when you get put on hold by some customer service rep for 20 minutes.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: Various functions. Affordable price. Speaker phone function on Handset. Multi Handset. Two Line capacity

Weakness: NI-CD battery.

This phone system is generally a fine system to use. You can have multiple voice mail box for answering machine, and 2 line capacity is one of the its advantage. However, Battery is NI-CD, so that it has a memory effect. I actually purchased NIMH battery, and I'll try to use it instead of NI-CD.

Strengths: Multi handsets up to 8, good standby battery life, two-line capacity, full function answering machine with 3 mailboxes, lost phone finder, intercom,

Weakness: Interfere with wireless network, long charge time, and extra handsets expensive.

Bought it a couple of days ago, so far liked this nice-looking phone system. It has a lot of functions and the manual is easy to follow. Though did notice some interference with my wireless network and long charge time. Also, handsets are quite expensive.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: ulti handsets up to 8,but the handsets are expenisive, good standby battery life, two-line capacity, full function answering machine with 3 mailboxes, lost phone finder, intercom.

Weakness: Don't know much about it because i just few day back and till today's date it is working fine.

Bought it a couple of days ago, so far liked this nice-looking phone system. It has a lot of functions and the manual is easy to follow. Though did notice some interference with my wireless network and long charge time. Also, handsets are quite expensive. The Panasonic KX-TG2720S offers 2.4 GHz frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology for clear sound, longer range, and improved privacy. Use multiple handsets without worry of cross-talk or eavesdropping, an advanced microchip answering system records up to 15 minutes of messages and makes retrieval easy. A voice synthesizer prompts callers through the messaging system and identifies each incoming message with the time and day it was received.
It is good but not very good.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: 2 lines makes this convienant. Strong warranty protection

Weakness: battery life.. easily fixed with a nimh

This phone was for our hom office as we have 2 lines, but one is always being used for fax orders coming in. We can now use the one line and if need be, with no faxes coming in we can use the 2nd line for needed calls. Very nice features as well, like ring tones, caller ID and such.
Buy a newer nimh battery and u wont have any problems with this phone.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: Allows lot of other expandable phones as handset extensions. It is expandable up to 8 handsets. So you dont have to buy those expensive handsets

Too bulky. But its the price you pay when you want a phone with so many features. It also got bunch dialpad on base, so you could as well use base, with out handset, almost like another handset. So over all you can have it at 9 places with just 1 telephone jack.

Panasonic KX-TG2740S Cordless Telephone

Strengths: Voice clarity, good digital voicemail quality, handset speakerphone, expandable up to 8 handsets.

Weakness: Expansion handsets are as expensive as other standalone phones, NiCD batteries are terrible.

With voice clarity that rivals corded phones, an excellent digital voicemail system, 2-line capability, and 8 handset expandability, what more could you ask for? The KX-TG2740 is an excellent choice if you are looking for a 2-line, 2.4GHz phone system with built-in voicemail. The phone and the expansion handsets are a little on the expensive side, but the features and voice quality certainly justify the costs.
