Plextor PlexWriter Internal CD-RW DriveStrengths: Easy to install. The strength is in the software that comes with the CDRW Weakness: Can't tell any yet This is the fastest and easiest to use CD Burner that I've used yet. I debated for quite some time on which one to buy, trust me this one is highly recommended. The other CDRW I owned was an external, which has some advantages, but it was run through the printer and USB ports and I constantly had conflicts. This Plextor internal is the way to go. Plextor PlexWriter Internal CD-RW DriveStrengths: Varirec, Powerburn and burn quality. Weakness: CD tray is slow, loose and weak when open, tray not as sturdy comparing to other drives, but not a factor comparing to its burn quality. I have used quite a few different name brand burners in the past and I must confess that this is the best by far, especially with the affordability of the drives being produced without sacrificing its quality. The drive operates pretty smooth and quiet and with little or no vibration even at high speeds. My main use is for music mastering and archiving. So far, every disc recorded has come out more than perfect. In addition to the best medias, I also have a bunch of cheap media left (bulk spindle) which I have the opportunity to adjust the laser intensity (VariRec) level to suit the different disc qualities which produces perfect results, so I no longer worry about cheaper media in this avenue (maybe except for long term archive). I can truly attest that this is the best burner in the market, for the novice and professional, it is worth every dollar spent! 100% of readers found this review helpful. Plextor PlexWriter Internal CD-RW DriveStrengths: Clean Quick Burns, Easy Istallation Weakness: none This by far is the best burner I have ever used. I am on my third burner, so I have some experiance. The Plexwriter went right in on top of XP. No problems what so ever. XP discovered it on start up and loaded the necessary driver for it. I have burned 50 or so c.d.'s with it and not one error. I am completely satisfied. You can spend a little less if you'd like. But with all of my prior experiance, I don't want any buffer underruns...with this...it's burn proof! Plextor PlexWriter Internal CD-RW Drive
Strengths: Easy to install. Fast on CD-RW rewrites. Works Well with Roxio EZ CD Creator Platinum after upgrade. Rips song from CD's really fast.
Weakness: Slow when creating audio CD's from MP-3 files. Plain jane looks.
I had purchased a TDK VeloCD 32X/10X/40X drive. It did not perform well under Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro. I took it back and got this Plextor drive and am very impressed. Installation was simple and it works quite well with EZ CD Creator Platinum after downloading a software upgrade from Roxio's web site. I've only had it for a day and recorded to 32X CD-R media and 4X CD-RW media. Can't wait to purchase 40X CD-R and 10X CD-RW media to see what happens. I would surely reccomend this drive to anyone looking to upgrade.
