Strengths: Consistant with past product releases
Weaknesses: You have to hunt for lowest price, I paid net $41 including shipping
Summary: I highly recommend Audit Defense. I was audited last year and this was the best $35 I've ever spent. I had to spend several hours with an Audit Defense CPA, but they represented me in court.

Strengths: Best tax prep software available for personal use
Weaknesses: Expensive
Summary: The Deluxe version should handle my investment needs without having to upgrade to Premier. Additionally, I don't need the state part; but I get it anyway. Why should I have to pay for something I don't need. Yes, I use this product; but I don't appreciate how it is marketed. The product is easy to use and I like to be able to import my information in, rather than manually inputting it.

Strengths: Easy/simple interface ; Simple to understand language; VERY thorough on walking you through the process
Weaknesses: Price; Tax guidance and advice can be limited
Summary: Overall a great product that I would recommend for anyone who is willing or wanting to do their own taxes - this makes it easy! The questions are very easy guides; however, there are many times you'll encounter a question where you may not be sure if it applies to you or not - at those times, the guidance can be limited and you will be left to either do more research, or read the one to two line blurb in TurboTax and take your best guess.
The software walks you through forms and questions with a great deal of thoroughness to ensure you have answered (and double-checked!) everything. That process cna be a bit tedious if you need to modify or change one number that happens to be in the middle of one of those series of 30 questions as the only "easy" way to reach it is to go through 15 questions, change the number, and then go through the remaining 15 questions until you are back at the main menu.
As far as Premier vs. Deluxe vs. Basic; for most individuals - I would recommend the lowest level that includes "ItsDeductible" and the State download (DELUXE EDITION). Above that, it's likely only needed if you have a significant number of complicated stock sales, were self-employed at any point and time, or have a significant number of investments spread over many different areas.

Strengths: very comprehensive product, easy to install, easy to import last years tax record
Weaknesses: expensive
Summary: I have been using TurboTax for over eight years with no major problems. This year I upgraded to the premier version because I have some stock sales that this version may help me with. Through the years Turbotax has made doing my taxes really easy. I love the fact that I can just import last years return and TurboTax can fill-in the basic information. Also for some topics it keeps a nice running record so you can carry forward certain items from year to year. One major drawback with turbo tax is that the company tends to downgrade the software each year to try to get you to move up a version. Overall I am pleased with this product and will continue to use it.

Strengths: Finds all deductions, supports all personal tax forms, including international mutual funds. Intuit keeps you updated with changes in tax laws
Weaknesses: Price
Summary: Get the industry leading tax software that you need to deal with complex tax situations - at a premium price of course. Still, it comes with all the state (1) and federal forms you need - including being able to deal with very complex personal tax situations.
Don't expect small business forms here though. Would I like it to be cheaper? Is it cheaper and often more reliable than tax professionals? Yes
If you have a complex situation, this product is for you

Turbo Tax Premier 2007
Strengths: This product is "dumbed down" to the point of being demeaning. It's extremely tedious to use.
Weaknesses: Contrary to Intuit claims, Premier did not reduce my taxes from the amount calculated by Turbo Tax Basic.
Summary: The program does not recognize when it has been updated, whether from download or from the update CD. It repeatedly demands an internet connection, connects to the Intuit server for one second, and then reverts to user interaction.

Strengths: The program leads the user step-by-step, with nothing omitted that I can see.
Weaknesses: The cost is the same whether or not a state form is needed.
Summary: I have used this program for some years, and the questions have been made clearer and more comprehensive each year. While the IRS publications are accessible from the program, the less I have to refer to them and try to comprehend them, the better I like it. I am a retiree with income from pensions, IRA, and investments, and TurboTax covers these well.

Strengths: excellent, very easy to use
Weaknesses: none
Summary: could not make doing taxes any easier. Ordering was very easy, installing was simple, updates are done automatically. The "walk-thru" is superb. Price was a value ordering thru Price Grabber. Thoroughly pleased.

Strengths: Easy to install on Windows XP Pro, works well for both Federal and NY state taxes.
Weaknesses: Many updates. The repeated updates are a PITA.
Summary: The import from Quicken was easy to do and worked well. This saves a great deal of time and prevents errors with interest and investment entries. I highly recommend the combination of TurboTax and Quicken.

Strengths: Does a good job of interviwing the tax payer. Very easy to use.
Weaknesses: Having used Turbo tax for many years, the new interface adopted this year seems "cheap" in appearance, compared to [revious vresions.
Summary: Whay can I say? I have been using Turbo Tax since 1998, and am generally pleased with the product. This year, because I was getting a large return, I elected to file electronically and pay the fee. I filed in late February, and had a check direct deposited by the 11th of March.

Strengths: Has all the information you need to file your return
Weaknesses: Has many degrees of program that are purchased separately.
Summary: Considering you can get the basic program from the IRS to file you taxes, Turbo Tax seems to charge an inordinate fee for their programs in varying degrees. They have no logic to their upgrade levels of pricing and seem to charge what the market will bear. It is best in a case like this to shop around using a site such as Price Grabber to find the best price.

Strengths: Easy to use, and prints only what you need to send. It also backs up the Application, data file, and the finished return in PDF format to CD if you like. I found that nice.
Weaknesses: You must go to the website to verify that your updated Application and forms are the final version. I did not attempt to send my return until I verified that it was.
Summary: I have used TurboTax for a few years now, and am happy enough not to even look at TaxCut again. TaxCut stopped producing the TaxCut for the Mac a couple of years ago, so I was left to try TurboTax. I did and it worked out well. I really like the feature that transfers last year's data (if it applies) to this year's form. It also does a final review to catch any glaring errors in form or math. Having used MacInTax, I'm not a new tax software user. Premier has worked well this year handling the changing life events that all people face as they get older. Nice product.

Strengths: Ease of use, clear concise questions and good navigation
Weaknesses: Use of Multistate tax programs is week, particularly in regard to income assignment to seperate states, for example assigned NY State income correctly, but PA income assigned as sum of both states.
Summary: Overall, continue to be very satisfied with Turbo Tax, again with the exception of multi state income tax filings. Several collegues have complained of this error and in some cases when not caught, resulted in incorrect taxes.

Strengths: covers mouch -kept up to date with updates - popups that will exsplan what it means - layed out in a orderly way
Weaknesses: cost more money for E-File, Autit Insurance, to have some real person one review it
Summary: The program installed with no problems, and updated its self before I began. There aresome questions it ask you about the big events in your life that could cost or save you money. It seem to cover all the areas in income and deductions. I often had to read information that was handy in the popups to answer my questions of what was and what was not included as deductions.

Improvements are not necessarily better
Strengths: It's TurboTax
Weaknesses: They brag about how much easier it is to navigate. I think they made it worse.
Summary: Some of the screens that collect information or ask you to answer questions simply don't work. You end up needing to find the form yourself and re-enter the same information, or in some cases it asks "Did you have XYZ type of investment?" and then it forgot to ask you about that investment. I think Intuit needs to start thinking about how people work. They have a bunch of documents they received from banks, employers and other entities. Just ask people what they have in front of them!
If you like TurboTax, get it. If you're not sure, you might want to consider the competition.
