Good Seller

Strengths: Low Cost of Software and received package in good time.

Weakness: See comments

Software worked fine. Was worried in the beginning since it looked as if the Windows Certification Sticker had been reattached to the software. It did activate and register fine. No problems so far.

all is well!

Strengths: great price; OS installed easily; MS validation was no problem; the item is as advertised.

Weakness: it could have been for free, but bill gates has a mortgage, too.

i was apprehensive of the seller having bogus cd's, but the OS is up and running and there have been no problems. i think i may buy another for this price, because i love to be creative with computers, hence the nickname Crash!

Windows XP Home Edition w/ SP2 (Full Product).

Strengths: Works

Weakness: expensive

I think that XP home is a very good value because there are alot more options than either linux or mac. It is also the easiest version of windows yet.

Windows for my Mac

Strengths: With Boot Camp it loaded easily. Product as expected.

Weakness: Windows is by its nature not as easily navigated as other operating systems, but the XP is fine for what it is.

I bought this to load onto my Macbook with intel. As soon as it came available via Boot Camp (free download from Apple) I looked for the cheapest version of Windows I could buy. THis version, OEM, with some sort of branding on the disc and without any "box" turned out to be just fine for the task. Following the Boot Camp instructions I loaded the OS onto my Mac and so far so good. This will enable me to use those few applications whose authors were unable to write a version for Macs. So, for those Macusers with the new Macbook Pro who wish to add Windows as an alternative OS, this version worked for me.

The best OS for end users

Strengths: Faster internet, better performance

Weakness: heavy system requirements, no good for old DOS programs

I upgraded my OS (Win98 to WinXP). The results were good. No more anoying problems, freeze screens, etc. SP/2 is the pack which improve your internet connection and surfing. In addition, It could be used for small bussiness; however, if your system run or is based in DOS OS, it could not run very well in WinXP.

XP Home w/ SP2 works good

Strengths: Easy to load and authenicate Much more stable than Windows ME or 98

Weakness: Always need to keep it updated to protect against viruses

I build my own computers using barebone systems. You can save money over buying the prepackages systems, but you have to load your own operating system. I've had good experience with Windows XP home. I've never tried the Professional version, but I hear that there is not that much difference

Windows XP Home with SP2

Strengths: none

Weakness: corrupted my iMac

I don't know whether it was Windows XP or Outlook Express or Parallels, but upon installation on my brand-new iMac, on which I had just configured my Mac Mail e-mail accounts, my Mac Mail accounts became disabled, and my whole new computer went kablooey. Programs were behaving erratically, and I did not trust the computer, though I tried mightily to use it. I had AppleCare walk me through an Archive and Install first. That did not solve the problems. A week or so later, after I restarted the computer one morning, it reverted to "day one" preferences. That was the last straw. At that point I did a Clean Install, and then my iMac returned to normal, but I lost close to three weeks of work and therefore three weeks of income. Needless to say, I shall not reinstall this software on my iMac.

SoftwareMedia.com - Windows XP Home SP2

Strengths: good price (on sale?)

Weakness: web site was difficult to use. took me 5-6 times to get all the way thru the purchase process (painful).

Overall I'm happy with my purchase of Windows XP from SoftwareMedia.com. Their price was good but it must have been on sale. Their web site was flakey, as it kept crapping out on my as I was going thru the purchase process. It literally took me about 5-6 attempts to get all the way thru the checkout process. I almost just gave up and went with another vendor. Not sure what the problem was, but it certainly wasn't my computer as I don't have issues with other sites purchasing items.

Thanks softwaremedia!

"OEM" means "Original Equipment Manufacturer", that is, parts that are sold "barebones" to big computer manufacturers. You're not paying for fancy packaging or extras. You get a CD-ROM and the license key, and that's about it.

First poster here said "don't buy from them", but didn't say who.

I guess you would need instructions because you sure can't spell. Why do people post comments without checking their spelling?

Windows - a waste of Your money.

Strengths: Familiar interface hence easy to use for those that had contact with Windows before.

Weakness: Expensive, technologically old, easy to catch a virus, insecure.

$75 for system which is insecure, old and without necessary applications (Office package, some image retouch and composition program, etc.) is a WAY too much. If you want to buy this do not waste your money, you'd better get a Linux, preferably Ubuntu. (FREE, secure, no viruses, all necessary programs included, easy update of system along with applications (as opposed to system only update in Windows))
