Must for the Windows

Strengths: 3 User License Easy to install/upgrade Cost

Weakness: Makes your machine slow. (But it's for your advantage)

I always prefer Mcafee over other antivirus softwares.

The administrative interface is more user friendly than any other software in this category.

The site adviser is the added advantage to get better acquainted with the site before you interact.

This software is must for every windows PC to make sure that it remains healthy ever.

McAfee VirusScan Plus

Strengths: Easy download and tons of safety features.

Weakness: none that I see

This product was fast and easy to download. Some have said that this product slowed down their computer....not with mine. I didn't notice any difference. I also loved all the safety features that the VirusScan plus offers. I love the automatic threat updates you get, and it stops viruses before they get to my computer.
McAfee is one of the best names in the anti-virus world and I love it.

McAfee VirusScan Plus

Strengths: Great Product

Weakness: None

This was listed as the 2008 version of the product. I have the 2007 version and it has 2007 printed on the product box. This 2008 version doesn't have 2008 printed anywhere on the packaging or disc. So I have to assume it is a 2008 product. The software itself is a great product to have. I have used Norton in the past and am very happy since switching to McAfee.

VirusScanPlus 2008

Strengths: Able to protect 3 computers

Weakness: none

The price was so low it only cost $7.96 per computer. It only took less than a week to receive in the mail. I would recomend this product to my son and mother. It will take care of my husband's laptop, my daughter's laptop and my pc.

Got it in a deal

Strengths: Excellent anti-virus

Weakness: Renewing license.

This is one of my Anti-virus and is usable for 3 users. It works great does not slows down PC like Nortons does. Works in Vista Premium (I think others also). I'm not happy for retail customer they should have longer license period, they can make money with corporates why us?

Performance & updates works great, I tested with EICAR Test Virus after installation and it did of course passed. I love Mcafee compared to Nortons because it does not reduces your PC performance and takes les CPU time I think.

excellent antivirus

Strengths: fast scanning, easy updates, good virus detection

Weakness: heavy memory use

Very good Anti-virus solution from McAfee. Easy install with automatic upgrade to the newest version, unobtrusive upgrades. Very good virus detection. Excellent price for product. The only negative, still heavy memory use, especially when scanning. Be sure to configure it to do the scheduled scans at hours when you are not using the machine (otherwise speaking, it is better for desktop machines and not for laptops).

I have been using mcafee viruscan for many years now and realy like the product. It is easy to install and updates automaticly. It does a good job of blocking spyware and viruses.

Good Basic Coverage

Strengths: virus detection,cost, virus prevention,

Weakness: speed of scans

This product gives you very good basic protection from viruses and spyware, plus has a tool to clean up junk from your computer. It also has a firewall which is better than the one that came with Windown XP.There is also something called site advisor that can give you information if a website seems fishy to you.I like the fact that it does not install all sorts of "extras" on your computer that you really dont want or need and dont know that they are even there in the first place.Those seem to bog down the computers resources. The scans are a bit slow but they are effective so I shouldn't complain.I guess I can tweak that so they dont scan unnecessary files.This product came with a generous rebate which made the purchase price affordable.I'm very happy with this product.

Decent Antivirus Software

Strengths: Automatically blocks and removes viruses from the computer, low cost.

Weakness: Slows down the computer, uses a lot of memory.

Easy to use antivirus software blocks spyware before it installs on your computer and removes existing spyware so you can surf the Web safely. It also has a built in firewall program to block hackers but Windows comes with a firewall. Just choose which one to use as they both seem good. It also monitors ingoing and outgoing internet activity to flag suspicious occurances. This can get tedious as some inoccuous programs may get flagged but, as I like to say, "Better safe than sorry".
This software automatically updates on a daily basis. The updates happen in the background when connected to the internet.
Siteadvisor tells you about suspicous internet sites to prevent downloading malware or spyware. Windows Vista has a similar feature but the Mcafee software seems more up to date.
Overall, this is decent antivirus software that is easy to configure and use.

OK AntiVirus Software

Strengths: Does its job

Weakness: Takes memory and slows down my laptop a bit.

I got this from Amazon.com for my Sony VAIO VGN-NR310E/S. The laptop came with a 30 day trial offer from Norton but I decided to buy McAfee. It has been OK so far but it puts a little load on the system resources but I don't seem to notice it that much unless I am looking at the Task Manager.

VirusScan Plus 2008 - 3-User (Full Product)

Strengths: Simple to use.

Weakness: Does not have hourly software update feature.

This is an affordable anti-virus program that gets basic job done, but not that much else. As noted it does not update hourly automatically which is inconvenient. However, when it does get updated it keeps up with the latest internet threats while not interrupting other tasks that you are performing. The three-user feature is nice also. Altogether, it is an average security package.

bad software

Strengths: very cheap

Weakness: bloat your computer

For almost free software, it is horrible because my computer was hung up upon installation. It can remove some viruses but not all of them. This software is way lower in quality compared with the other compatible ones available in the market (e.g. Kaspersky).

horrible software

Strengths: none

Weakness: hang up your computer after installation

I would not recommend buying this software since my computer was completely dead upon installation. Therefore, I wanted to remove the software but it did not let me do it due to "administartion authorization" even though I was at the administrator account. Very bad experience.
