Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: It won the best point and shoot camera award. What more can you say about it?

Weakness: No adapter included

This camera is the best. The pictures are so realistic and life like. It has more than paid for itself in not going to the store to develop pictures. It has some difficulties in taking pictures at night without a tripod because it thinks it does not have enough light and the movement from your hands makes the pictures blurred without a flash, however, with a tripod this is quickly remedied. All in all, its a value that can't be beat :).

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Great pictures, easy to use.

Weakness: None.

Lemme just say this is an awesome camera. The problems other people have with it are their own fault. The lens cover takes TWO clicks to open, there is no design flaw. The software is not necessary, just plug the camera into your computer and it becomes the F drive. It can be used as a 128mb zip drive that you can take around to any computer, just plug it in.
It can also take a beating.. dropped it a couple times onto hard tile floor, sound made me want to cry, but nothing broke! I loved this camera, too bad it got stolen.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: price, battery (two AAs), quality (made in Japan)

Weakness: none

I think the PC world review does not come faily. I have done a lot research before I settled this one. None of them has problem with image quality. On the contrast, they all praise the image quality that come from sites have reviewed hundreds digital cameras. If you check the availabilty in the market, you will know why. It is hard to get one this point. Let the supply and demand speak by itself. My point of view:
1) image quailty.
2) portability. What is good about a camera, if that is not
easy to carry.
3) price. It it not worth to pay too much on electronic thing, since the price drops everyday.
With the above criteria, I do not have choice.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Excellent Value. Easy to use.

Weakness: Lens cover can be a problem until you get used to it. 2 Megs is only 2 megs.

By far the best value I could find in the 2 Meg category and under $300. Actually picked it up @ Overstock.com. Had previously owned a 1.3 Meg Fuji (left in S.F.) and this was the replacement which actully cost less than the original. Easy to use, decent software and editing.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Beautiful picture quality, easy to use, battery life, macro capablility, compact size

Weakness: Weak flash indoors, red-eye

This camera fits my needs as grandparent very well. Prints are excellent using medium resolution format. Camera is almost 2 years old, have had no problems. Size is small enough to fit into a purse. Software is easy to use, and with USB connectivity its simple to connect.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Nice pictures in daylight, very good price, fast USB connection, movie capability, useful features, excellent customer support from Fuji

Weakness: Has great trouble taking pictures in the dark even with a flash

A very nice camera for point and shoot photography but cannot take pictures very well in anything other than daylight. I must say however that Fuji UK gave excellent support when my camera got damaged due to an accident and replaced it FOC.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Size and rechargable batterys

Weakness: workmanship, customer service deceptions

It locked up and the lens would not move so I sent it back a month ago and two weeks ago they said I should have it in a week. Last week they said I should have it by Friday. Today is the following Monday and now they say I should have it by this Friday. Being without a camera for over a month is unacceptable to me. I will not buy another Fugi camera.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Good picture in this price (especially outdoors), long battery life and the charger. Good instructions in manual.

Weakness: The software doesn't have many edit functions.

This is my first digital camera, and like others, I did research before buying it. Another candidate was Nikon coolpix 2500. In the end, I settled on this one for some reason. The rechargeable batteries and the charger (rapid charger) is very convenient and can be used for other devices. The extra (backup) batteries cost much less than a Li one, but the battery life is slightly less than the Li one's. This is a good deal for the price I paid.

Its red-eye reduction works if you are not too close to the target (at least more than 1 meter). The USB connection is fine but is not auto-connected (need the drivers).

Strengths: Easy to use.Exellent pics for online use.Batteries last long and charges quickly.

Weakness: Weak software instructions.Does not fully explain how the software works when installed.

I got exellent pictures all the time, and, I got even better the more I used it.My printed pictures came out exellent from this camera in this price range, and i have an epson C-60.I highly recommend this Camera! Oh, Get yourself a couple of extra batteries so you don't have to wait for a recharge.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: image quality; price

Weakness: imaging under a weak light source is not very good but aceptable. CCD reading speed is somehow slow.

I did a good amount of research on digital cameras before I choose this model.

Image quality is among the bests and is comparable to some 3.3MP caremas. Best price to quality ratio among all 2MP digital cameras.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Great Pictures! 2.1 Megapixels, 3X Optical Zoom, Compact Size, Easy Basic Controls, Batteries, Charger and 16MB memory card all included in the box. Awsome Price!

Weakness: Video Mode has it weaknesses. No sound, Needs to be bright. Indoor videos at night look awful. Batteries may pop out if you hit the door the wrong way. Photo software included doesn't impress.

I did hours and hours on top of days and days of Internet research to find the best camera that my limited money could buy. No matter how many cameras I looked at, I kept on coming back to the Fuji Finepix 2600. Not only were the sample pictures I looked at great, but this camera boasts features that other cameras can't touch at this price.

Once I started snapping my own pictures with this little gem, I knew for a fact that I made the right choice. All outdoor pics look superb with a nice 3X optical zoom to catch those distant shots. That's where this camera really shines. Even indoor pics with the flash come out very nice. I took a hundred pictures and didn't even get one blurry shot until I took one at night without the flash. At night or indoors you must use the flash for a good picture. Otherwise it will be blurry. But that's going to be the case with most any camera.

I wouldn't recommend this camera if your main purpose is to shoot motion video. That is the one area of weakness this camera doesn't overcome. But for the most basic outdoor video (20 seconds or less) this camera can handle it with marginally acceptable results. The lack of quality video doesn't upset me since I just want the camera to take quality still shots (which it does!)

This is not only an excellent camera for the beginner, but it is also a great second camera for the professional. Bought mine at buydig.com for $200. At that price it's a steal. Get one today. You'll love it!

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: A variety of features for the price, outstanding image quality, movie and macro modes, lightweight and compact, a variety of exposure compensation features, effortless to use and dependable.

Weakness: Baffling DPOF function, weak flash and battery life, image editing software, a hard-to-see LCD viewfinder.

For a novice digital photographer, this is a remarkable camera for the money and is full of extra goodies that you wouldn't expect for the price. The camera's minimal weaknesses are easily solved. I purchased extra batteries to work around the short battery life. I try to stay within 10 feet of the subject and have experimented with the exposure compensation feature; this minimizes the weak flash. I picked up a decent $30.00 image editing program so the rudimentary FinePix Viewer isn't an issue. This is a superb value-packed camera and I highly recommend it to any beginner. You won't be sorry.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Awesome pictures

Weakness: takes too long between pushing the button and actually taking the shot

This camera takes excellent scenery pictures. At night I can actually catch fireflys in motion... right down to the blur of their wings. Awesome pictures.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Picture quality, price, ease of use, price, size, and ...did we mention the price!!

Weakness: Battery life is short; software is confusing, with poorly written instructions ( what else is new)

For the price, this is a GREAT CAMERA! The picture quality is better than most cameras costing 3 to 4 times as much.It is extremely easy to use, and best of all, it's pocket-sized!!
Like most digital's, the LCD, which is hard to see in bright sunlit conditions, uses batteries quickly. We recommend carrying plenty of spares and we use the DC adapter whenever possible.
We found the software to be confusing and the instructions to be no help at all, but with a little effort we were quickly transfering the pix to an editing program we prefer.
Overall, this camera is one of the best values on the market today.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Haven't found any. Still looking.

Weakness: Many. Red Eye is really bad. Forget about low light rooms. LCD Monitor, use it you got no batteries after 30 pics. If you do use it by the time you take picture subject is out of view.

This has got to be the worst camera I have ever had. I hope Fuji sees this so they can help me out. I can't believe people think this is a good camera. Maybe something is just wrong with mine. Please let me know. Help! P.S. I don't why it is coming up with a 4 Star Solid rating. I only checked the 1 Star rating. Completely Unsatisfactory.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Great picture quality, easy menus, 1.6" LCD is easy to view. Fast interval in between pictures and the software is easy to use

Weakness: Battery life. I had an original digital camera and the battery life of this one is as pathetic as that one which is 5 years old.

This is a great camera for the price and if you dont mind the battery life, I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Great pictures, easy USB connections, lightweight, and ease of use...just make sure you have a lot of batteries.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Easy to Use, Good Picture Quality

Weakness: Lens Cover Doesn't Work Right, Battery Life

This Fuji model takes good pictures, but the battery life is terrible. My previous Fuji used a Li-Ion battery, which had much longer life. The LCD is activated during downloads, with no way to turn it off. The camera often detects that the lens cover is not open, which causes loss of zoom setting and is quite a nusiance. I haven't sent it in for repair yet... This guy just eats up the long life NiMh batteries I've been using.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Great photos with perfect color texture.

Weakness: The sliding lens cap

This is an O.K camera but the sliding lens cap is a weak point. The lens cap which works manually, has a tendency to slightly close when you are ready to shoot. My camera broke within 30 days of purchase, and I have sent it back to the factory for repairs. Stay tuned for the outcome.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: ease of use, download speed, picture quality

Weakness: workmanship

It's a good little camera, nice picture quality, easy to use, fast downloads. However, I had troubles with the lens cover sensor; it says that the cover is closed, even when it is open. Pressing the cover towards the camera body will activate the sensor; the lens will withdraw, your zoom settings will be lost. This made it too hard to take pictures. I sent the camera back for repair. I will post when I see how long it takes to get the camera back, and if the problem is fixed.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Quality photos, good zoom, ease of use, great for price

Weakness: red eye, slow shutter, movie mode sucks

Fuju cannot compare to my olympus which is just a 1.3, bought this one to upgrade. Photos are quailty. Shutter speed terrible. Olympus surpasses. I am going to give my daughter fuji, and keep Olympus until I can upgrade to Ollympus 3040 or higher. But good camera for the money.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Great picture quality. 3x Zoom. Compact Size (too fat though). Uses standard AA size batteries. Includes rechargeable batteries. ALL the review sites put this camera value as CAN NOT BE BEAT.

Weakness: Red Eye! Red Eye! Compacts have this problem (flash to close to lens). Movie mode is 10fps and DARK. Low light impossible without flash. No real manual controls. LCD could be sharper and brighter.

This is a great camera for the $250 price range and family/general/vacation photos. Even more so with the Fuji $35 rebate. Battery life has been fine for me - but anyone that reads up knows that you need to get a spare 4 pack of NiMH AA and a good charger. MAHA 1700's batteries and charger ($35) are the clear choice there. Search the web for them. Also turn off the LCD if you can.

Strengths: price 16mb card

Weakness: software

Sears will match any price. I got mine for $229 plus tax. Just bring Sears a copy of cheaper price from another web page they will match it. I even got $800 off a HDTV from them. The camera in nice I wish the software was better and easier to use.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, nice 3X optical zoom lens, comes with rechargeable batteries and a decent sized (16mb) memory card

Weakness: DPOF is confusing, LCD screen could be a bit clearer and brighter, lack of manual settings, basic software

I think that PC World's review is way off as far as picture quality - I believe that the pictures taken in daylight are better (more accurate color and detail) then the higher rated and more expensive Olympus 2040. I print some of my pictures on an HP 895Cxi printer and they look great. But the DPOF is a bit confusing, the PC camera feature is worthless (to me) as the video is way too dark. Also, perhaps because of the lask of some manual settings like ISO, aperature, and shutter speed, the camera struggles a bit in dimly lit indoor picture taking - you'll need to get up close and use the flash (with the flash the pictures look fine).

I looked around and this camera is the best deal I found on a 2 megapixel camera with a 3X optical zoom. It is easy to take great pictures with this camera.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Price, good pictures, easy to use, good package

Weakness: Minor nitpicks: flash offset from lens creates slight shadows, outdoor pictures on overcast days are dark, batteries don't last long w/ flash and lcd, slow to regenerate w/flash and hi quality images

I love it inspite of a few minor probs. To get the camera I really want I need to spend $800, to get another camera that's close to this you need to add $100 for batteries and more memory, this is a great deal for the first time digital camera user. The software is limited, can't really fix images up like Adobe's software (Photoshop or PhotoStyler) or JASC's Paint Shop Pro

I would not recommend this to a serious photographer, not many features or controls, but perfect for some that wants and easy to use camera that takes good pictures

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Easy to use, super crisp photos, great value

Weakness: battery life

I bought my Fuji 2600 Finepix a few days ago after doing quite a bit of reseach on the web. This camera is by far a great value in features, quality and price in comparison to comparable products. Other cameras with similar features cost twice the $299 that I paid. I did find that the batteries gave out quicker than I would like, so I bought a couple of extra rechargeable AAs. I was taking pictures and uploading to my website immediately --it is very easy to use.

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Excellent Image Quality; 2 mega pixels; 3X Optical Zoom; Great macro mode pics; 16 MB Smart Media incl; USB Conn; PC Cam Func; 20 sec AVI movies; Auto and Man modes; Lens cover built in;

Weakness: Plastic case & tripod mount; Only able to get about 30 pics on a single charge, although I use the LCD and flash extensively

Before purchasing this camera, I performed about 24 hours of research by reading many web reviews and going to retail stores. After comparing online and traditional retailers, I played it safe and purchased my camera for $299 from Target, but only after going to Fry's, 3 CompUSA stores, and another Target, all of which were sold out. One of the CompUSA reps told me that his shipment of eight FinePix 2600s sold out in a single day. All of the stores told me a similar story. Once I discovered that the Target store near my house was sold out, I called the Target in a neighboring city and was told they had one left, which they held for me.

Judging by my shopping odyssey here in San Diego, I'm not the only one who thought this camera was great deal. Even though I could have purchased it cheaper online, $299 is still a bargain for a 2 mega pixel camera with a 3x optical zoom.

Although I've only had it for 6 days, I love it! The image quality is excellent. I am pleased with the shot-to-shot time, which is ~2 sec. When the batteries are fully charged, the flash regenerates quickly. Also, when taking shots in low light with the flash, the image quality is still great.

The software is rudimentary at best. It does have some editing capabilities, but they are limited mainly to resizing and rotating the photos. I never did get the PC cam function to work, even though the driver seems to be correctly installed (Win98).

Fujifilm FinePix 2600 Zoom

Strengths: Fantastic pictures..very easy to use..price

Weakness: none

This is one of the best 2.1 MP you can get for the price. I knew nothing about digital photography but I was taking pictures, downloading them and e-mailing them to friends on the first day.
I would recommend a battery charger with an extra set of nickel metal-hydride batteries.

Strengths: Small, easy to use, takes a great picture

Weakness: None for the price

This is my first digital camera. I love it. I paid $300 at the store, well worth it. It is very small, yet has great features. 3X optical zoom, 2.5X Digital zoom, plus you can take 20 sec. video clips. I would recommend this to anyone interested in getting a digital camera. Great starter camera. Plus it came with a 16mb smart media card
