3 Star ReviewiPod Nano Third Generation
Strengths: Video quality, small size, pricing, battery life
Weaknesses: Small screen for video, earbuds, glossy back
Summary: Overall, this is a very good product from Apple. With the addition of video, Apple has made the Nano much better. The video quality is fantastic, although the screen is a little small for watching video on. It is still very small, although a little wider than the last generation, but still fits anywhere. The ear buds are really bad, but you can buy different ones. The pricing is solid at $150. That's the same as the last generation, and this one is better.

As usual, it is very easy to sync the iPod to iTunes. Just plug in the iPod and you are ready to go. I wish it came included with a wall charger, as you have to have a computer around to charge it. You can buy a wall charger separately, but Apple should include it.

The audio quality is pretty good, although clearly could be better if they wanted to. It does have the smaller click wheel than before, but it is VERY easy to adjust to in my opinion. I don't like the know glossy backside, as it smudges at the touch of it.

This iPod has great battery life, as I can listen to music for a while without the battery running out. It seems to be a bit better than the previous generation in that regard, which is a definite plus. Also, the last generation seemed to freeze on me all the time, and this one has frozen only once in two months. And, when you do have a problem, the online help is good (although it still does not come with a manual).

Overall, this is a very good mP3 player, and I would recommend it to those on a budget, but you may want to look into Creative Labs mp3s.

Strengths: Price is very reasonable compared to features it offers, Video playback, small size, screen quality is superb, Extremely easy and user friendly user interface, Battery Life.
Weaknesses: No WMA format support (Expected from MS biggest competitor). No Bluetooth or voice recorder, which other competing brands are now offering on their MP3 Players. Must downloads songs through iTunes.
Summary: I had this Ipod for 3 days now. It is my first Ipod but I had many MP3 players before. What attracts me the most about this Ipod is the size. Extremely small and thin comapred to previous generations. I also like the metal finish, which feels and looks fancy and sturdy.

Video Playback is also a new feature, and it's a big plus. The screen quality is extremely good. You must see it to believe it, it's almost like you have a little plasma TV in your palm.

The flash memory design makes it less prone to hardware failure like hard drive based older generations. Battery life is also another plus, the device can give you an full 24 hours of continious audio playback. Of course when playing videos battery life will be significantly shorter.

The disadvantages are: No WMA support, which can be a no dealer for those with a large WMA library. If you will be playing videos all the time, you might wanna consider getting the 8 GB nano, since the 4GB might not be enough. And of course the dependability on iTunes, you can hardly play any files that were not downloaded via Apple's iTunes. Also, Apple should added Bluetooth support, which seems to be on all MP3 players above $100 these days.

On the overall, a very good buy considering the price tag, with tons of features that leave the competition in dust.

Strengths: Great Video quality and design.
Weaknesses: No FM radio or voice recorder, sometimes scroll whell is difficult to control.
Summary: This is my first ipod. I have a Palm TX with Wi-Fi where you can almost do the same or more: mp3, video, surf internet, etc. This Ipod Nano generation (3rd) is almost full of features so i have decided to give it a try.

Under Mac OS X, I tried to drag and drop photos and videos from iPhoto to iTunes without success, it took me a while to realize that the only way is to synchronize from iTunes to be able to transfer them.

I'm an FM listener, i will need to buy the iPod Radio Remote but it's expensive and bulky. I hope for a day in a future, Apple will include an FM radio to this wonder.

Strengths: Reasonable price, excellent visual playback, sound audio quality, super-thin body
Weaknesses: Wider and bulkier than 1st and 2nd generation Nano, mediocre headphones
Summary: This is the third iPod I have owned and Apple keeps meeting up to expectations every time. The video playback on the 3rd generation Nano is simply incredible for such a small, razor-thin mp3 player. The price range is definitely reasonable at $149 for a 4GB model, especially since the audio playback quality is excellent. I'm not too fond about the wider body though. I am used to an ever-decreasing sized iPod, and a wider body doesn't follow those lines. The headphones continue to be below average as they deliver mediocre quality and tend to fall out when I exercise. If you have your own headphones that you like, definitely stick with them. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this product, especially to first-time Nano buyers since it's a good deal with excellent features.

Strengths: Price, screen size, battery life.
Weaknesses: The hold switch is a two-handed affair, MP3's take a while to edit play lists, ear buds get uncomfortable.
Summary: After buying my kids iPods for years it was time for me to get one! The previous Nano screen was a tad too small for me and the new screen size is very crisp and easy to read. My kids are jealous of the new features I have that the previous generation Nano doesn't. The games are fun and addictive (iQuiz, Klondike, and Vortex). The battery has a long life and it is great that this Nano was priced the same as the previous generation. The only downsides I see are... the hold button on the bottom is a two-handed affair like the previous review stated and it does take some time to edit my mp3's play lists to get them to play in the correct order (hint: make sure you fill in the Disk # and the Track #'s in iTunes). The ear buds have a decent range to them but they get uncomfortable after a while and you need to angle them just right for the best sound. I use a pair of Koss SportaPro headphones instead and the clarity really comes alive. Otherwise, Apple has hit another home run with the 3rd generation Nano by constantly staying at the leading edge of this market.

Strengths: super thin, plays videos, good battery life
Weaknesses: included headphones are garbage
Summary: 2007-09-29 12:49:37 This is the first ipod that I purchased and I love it. The size is probably the best part of it. I got the 4gb version which gets the job done with roughly 1000 songs. I also like that it can play videos and it includes some addictive games. I did have some problems getting my music from WMP to itunes but in the end its definitely worth it. One thing that I don't like is that the hold switch is on the bottom now which makes it difficult to switch on with one hand. Other than that, I am very content with it.

Strengths: Actual size of the Nano, the number of songs it can hold, and of course the games.
Weaknesses: The lock button and the headphone jack are on the bottom instead of the top like other ipods.
Summary: I also have an ipod classic, but like the size of the 3rd generation nano. I feel that this is an upgrade from the classic in turns of the easy of use of the wheel, the size of the screen, and the thickness. I can not say that I notice a difference between the sound quality of these machines. It is without question better than a classic CD player. I like that games can be downloaded and of course played (a nice feature for long trips). In terms of the battery life, I feel that this particular model offers an above average battery life. I do feel that the lock button and headphone jack are not in the correct position. What was apple thinking? For the average user who does not have millions of songs, but would just like to keep up to date on current music/downloads, this is a nice size.

Strengths: Small and rugged
Weaknesses: none so far ( except arm bands are pricey and one was not included ).
Summary: Present for the wife. Daughters have Gen2 and that is very nice. This version is even better because it is shorter and more compact. I was disappointed that no armband was included. The Apple brand armband was selling for $30. I found one for much less but I doubt it compares to the Apple original armband. Still mu wife and I think this is a great product. Too bad the price is so high.

Strengths: nice quality attractive mp3 player, larger bright screen than previous nano, good battery life
Weaknesses: it requires itunes download for the music and even for pictures
Summary: This is the first mp3 player that I have purchased. When I saw these new ones, I thought it would be a good time to jump in the apple ipod bandwagon. I was initially frustrated when I first received it because I could not get music on it. I thought I could use windows media which i am accustomed to, but I had to download the apple itunes first before my computer would even recognize it. Even when putting pictures on it, you have to use itunes which i think is weird why you can't just transfer the files. Besides that, it works great and I have no problems with it. It has a bright screen and a long battery life and not to mention a very good looking device which i have had many compliments on, and I would definitely recommend it...just have patience if you are like me and are an apple neophyte and not familiar with itunes..there is a slight learning curve.

Strengths: thin profile and compact, nice looking electronic
Weaknesses: surface scratches easily, click wheel is not easy to use at first.
Summary: I bought this IPOD for my nine year daughter and she loves it. It is a beautiful and a fun product by Apple. I also had it engraved in case she loses it (free from Apple). You need to buy a case to protect the screen and surface. We loaded songs, video, and photos. The video quality is great. Since the screen is small, you cannot watch movies for a long time but this is good for car trips. Connecting to Itunes with my IPOD is sluggish but I can copy songs from CDs and from ITUNES.

Strengths: small/compact; clear viewing; easy to use; excellent sound.
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This was a Christmas present to our son. Our son has a learning disability and it is not difficult for him to use. He loved the small, sleek styling of the Nano. He could put it in his pocket so it wouldn't get lost. The sound is excellent/very clear and precise tones. It is easy to use and he had no problem putting his CD's on his Nano. He has not used the video portion of the Nano yet, but if it is anything like the music portion, it will be excellent too. We highly recommend the iPod nano 3rd Generation 4GB MP3 Player.

Strengths: nice display, video, nice design
Weaknesses: stretchable back side, click wheel works hardly sometimes
Summary: I was really impressed with this iPod, this is my 3rd one (I had a Mini and a 2nd Gen. Nano), but this is better than those. The most negative thing is the back side, which can be stretchable so easily, I stored the player in that iPod sock, but it still did the same, now I bought a plastic case, now it\\\'s much better, so if you buy a new iPod (nano, Touch or Classic) then I suggest you to buy a massive case for it.

Strengths: The ipod nano is a sleek device that has a clear display of graphics and is not too heavy.
Weaknesses: It lacks durability.
Summary: I purchased the ipod nano for my daughter in October 2007. Last month, she dropped the ipod at school and it won't work now. She was not using it when she dropped it and thought it just needed to be charged. It still did not work after being charged.

Summary: Got this for my wife, who is not to smart when it comes to the latest technology, but she can handle this one. This nano is small but can do anything my Gen 5 Ipod can do. Screen is small but is easy to see. It seem to handle being knock around a little more than the Gen 2 nano. Battery life seems very good.
