Symantec Norton Ghost 2002Strengths: Stated features are many, has the Norton/Symantec brand name Weakness: Lots of bugs, problems that are not advertised/ made aware to the consumer, inability of tech support to help with problems, excessive time wasted Purchased software to clone an existing hard drive to a brand new WD 80GB drive. Software installed fine, ran great until I went to the cloning process. Got a error message that pointed me to Symantec's support site. Found out it was a common problem that many people have had, but not many have fixed. Had to get in line and wait a day for tech support. They give very small, insignificant feedback to people that most of the time rehashes the problem but does not fix. Searched the support forums to see how they have helped others. Many other dissatisfied customers who have asked for refunds and have gone with other hard drive cloning/imaging software. Did not get my problem fixed, software only made more problems with my hard drives. Would not buy software again, would go with drive image 2002 or similar. 80% of readers found this review helpful. Symantec Norton Ghost 2002Strengths: Easy to Delete Weakness: System Incompatibility. This software just does not work as advertised. Constant error messages and the support from Symantec tells you it’s your system. I tried in a computer store to clone a hard drive to a CD. We tried 8 machines with various CD drives and processors. 6 failed to clone. Any bad sectors on your drive, fail to clone even Disk to Disk. Told to buy 2003 by Symantec. So what warranty do we have that this will be any better. This product should be removed from sale and an update to 2003 should be FOC if they are convinced that it works any better. 78% of readers found this review helpful. Symantec Norton Ghost 2002
Strengths: Original Ghost purchased in 1998 worked beautifully, I loved it. Unfortunately as my systems grew, it could no longer handle the larger disks. I had to again purchase Ghost 2002. It doesn't work.
Weakness: Not practical for NT professional. Won't work. No cd was shipped. Had to rely on download. Changed the way I do backups due to the unreliable nature of the beast.
Original Ghost product was superb. Do not upgrade/purchase any upgrade to Ghost 2002, you will be sadly disappointed. The product went from a five star to a no star. Save your money!
