Not a bad router but I would recommend Netgear

Strengths: Ability to use vonage to reduce overall lane line expense. 3 phone lines.

Weakness: Router is very basic in what offers. Problems with resetting itself. No wireless.

This is my third Linksys router. The other two would keep resetting itself after about 20 seconds. With linksys tech support we found that we needed to replace the router both times.

If you currently use vonage and don't need wireless or already have a wireless router then go for model.

Linksys RT31P2 Router with Vonage VoIP Internet...

Strengths: This is a great value. I now have Internet Voip and network router all in one. This saves me on my phone bill and desk space. This is a wired adapter/router so is is dependable.

Weakness: If you need a wireless router, this is not for you. It is limited to where you can run cables.

For me this is excellent. I like the stabality of being directly wired. I never loose my connection. The router is the usually Linksys dependability. I look forward to many years of use from this product.

Great concept, poor execution

Strengths: Great rebate offers available

Weakness: idiot designers

This could have been an unmatched product, if only more thought was put into its design. For one, the color, shape and materials used in all Linksys products are horrible. Who has purple computer cases? But thats minor. The biggest problem with this router is how it implements VOIP. It has a built in QOS protocol. However, it does not utilize it to improve the VOIP quality. How could designers be so stupid? Aside from that, its a decent router and has some great rebate offers associated with it.

Linksys RT31P2 Broadband Router with 2 Phone Ports

Strengths: Broadband router/firewall and VOIP adapter. No lost connections

Weakness: Only one phone jack is enabled.

The name says it all for me, Linksys. It is very stable. No unexpected reboots or lost connection. There are 3 ethernet ports and 2 phone jack ports. Only the 1st phone port is enabled. The 2nd phone port is only enabled if you purchase a second line of service. So you have to use a phone splitter to add multiple phone with this product. I made it easy on myself and bought an expandable cordless phone system with 2 receivers so don't have to mess with alot of cords.

I have my XBOX and a network printer connected to the router and have not ever had a problem with it nor the VOIP! I am very pleased.

My second Linksys router

Strengths: Very ease installation process, nice design, technical support impecable!

Weakness: None

I bought this router because I wanted to switch my telephone service to Vonage VoIP. I already had a wireless router from Linksys (by the way, excellent), and I wanted a broadband router to match my existing piece of equipment. The installation was very easy, and although I needed some technical support in order to connect the 2 routers, customer services absolutely rocked (english and spanish). No doubts, 2 thumbs up!

Linksys RT31P2 Broadband Router with 2 Phone Ports

Strengths: None

Weakness: Completely unreliable. Drops connection.

This is the worst product I have ever used. It loses its connection with the PC and it is difficult or impossible to obtain an IP. There is no question that the issue is with the router because when it is bypassed the PC obtains an IP without any difficulty. DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER.
