Basic Webcam

Strengths: Price is cheap, has all the basic functions, easy to put on the monitor.

Weakness: Picture quality is very so so.

If you only need a very basic webcam, and you can get this one cheap, get it. It does what it is suppose to do.
If you are looking for something fancy or good picture quality, spend more money and get something else.

Good enough

Strengths: It functions well as a basic webcam. Monitor mount works very well on LCDs.

Weakness: Image quality is quite low.

This is a below-average webcam, but it serves the purpose. Not good for making YouTube videos. Image quality is not as good as expected. The impression you get by looking at the image samples on the box are not reflected in the actual product.

Affordable webcam

Strengths: Cheap, nice-looking

Weakness: Poor picture quality

This Creative webcam will serve the basic functions of a webcam. However, the image quality is not that good. The highest resolution you can get with it is only 640x480. The image has a lot of video noise. The good thing about this is that it comes with a game pak CD. I have a lot of fun playing the basketball, volleyball, and karate games with this webcam. The movements on those games are captured by your movements and not your joystick or keyboard. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

Very decent webcam

Strengths: easy to install and use and low price

Weakness: pixel is not very high

This is the cheapest webcam I can find. I intalled it in a short 5 minutes and figured it out how to use it right away. You can take picture and video with it. I play with it a lot in front of computer. And of course at the price this low, you can't expect more - it doesn't have high pixel so the picture quality is not super great, but I can live with it.

Very basic webcam

Strengths: Cheap. Come with extra headset.

Weakness: Low resolution

I agree with most comments that the resolution is low. The quality of the image is not that good.

However, I think you can't get any better webcams at the same price. I've got what I paid for. Also, the installation is very easy. Finally, please read carefully before install any softwares since there are many unnecessary software components (eg. AOL, Get Yahoo) that you don't want.

Get what you pay for.

Strengths: Very cheap. Not much else.

Weakness: Picture quality below average. Windows Vista not supported. Looks 'old' compared to more modern cameras.

There is nothing inherently wrong with this cheap and cheerful camera, especially considering the price. However, like I said above, you definitely get what you pay for. If like me, you were able to pick this camera up with a rebate, you can have no complaints. However, for $10-$20 more, you can get a camera that is years ahead technology wise of this one. If you are not running Vista and have an oldish PC and don't care much for quality picture wise, there is nothing wrong with this.

This is a basic webcam without very many features or functions. The resolution is not that great but enough to be seen clearly. I got it free after rebate so I have no complains. If you need something basic this will do the job.

Don't expect much

Strengths: 1) Can be had cheap or free after rebate 2) Package comes with a little "headset" and games 3)Kinda cute

Weakness: 1) Techology straight out of 1985 2) Low res, low quality image

If you get this for free after rebate, you will have about gotten your money's worth. This cute little camera isn't designed for anything more than the most basic webcamming. If you want even "good" quality pictures, move up market a little. Creative does have some pretty good low end webcams. (Check out their "live" series.) Unfortunately, this one is too low-end to fit that profile. Maybe if you have kids and need a free little toy for them to play with, this might fit your needs. Beyond that, don't expect much.

cheap, not good but enough for many people

Strengths: low price, great bonus microphone

Weakness: poor image quality, USB 1.1, doesn't support Vista

It is really cheap and I think a many of us got it almost free after rebate. The quality of the bonus microphone is much better than the web-cam.

The resolution rate is low and it make the poor image quality. But it is still OK for on-line chat and the low resolution makes the USB 1.1 interface is enough for it.

It maybe will never can be used under Windows Vista since the Creative doesn't have a plan to provide new driver.

Anyway, what can I complain for the money I paid? I will recommend this product just because the price.

This is a worthless webcam -- do not waste your time with it. Poor design, quality, and performance. There is nothing about it that's good, except that it was free after rebate. Still though, the time spent trying to make it work acceptably is time I will never get back. I'd throw it out, but I'm too cheap to let myself do that (it would really feel good though), so it went in the garage sale pile.

Affordable webcam - good for IM use

Strengths: cheap, nice looking, integrated stand, game pack and bounus microphone

Weakness: Resolution is low

The resolution of this webcam is low, but it is sufficient for webcam use. It comes with game pack which is fun for kids.

The included headset and microphone is cheap but does the job for voice chat.

Overall, an decent starter pack for anyone who just needs basic functionality and is ok with lower resolution images.

poor quality product

Garbage. Picture quality is bad.
The claws are supposed to let you fix it to a laptop. Unfortunately, the grip is not steady. The rubber studs came off and it got worse from there on.

Strengths: Cheap (after rebates), easy to setup. Bonus games!

Weakness: Low resolution and slow USB connection

Got this free after rebates - can't complaim much of it. It serve its function as a webcam despite the low resolution, slow transfer speed and not so good video quality. My daughter has a lot of funs with the games included - for a while but get bored after a while.

cheap, low quality webcam

Strengths: it's cheap and its appearance is kinda cute

Weakness: the picture quality is low and the video clip it generates doesn't work

This webcam is very cheap and its look is kind of cute, but even at the price as this low, it's not worth buying. The picture quality is low and I can't play a video clip generated by this webcam - it just gave a static picture, and if I tried to play the video clip from the creative webcam center, it just froze the program and my computer. I wouldn't recommend this webcam to anyone.

FREE is FREE... but I don't think I would pay money...

Strengths: Cheap... I.E. FREE AFTER REBATE :)

Weakness: Low Resolution 640 x 480 for pics, 352 x 288 for video... kind of grainy.... usb 1.1

Has a headset and 10 free games for kids as a bonus. The software is the best part, and I figured why not get two of these in case I go away and my girlfriend needs to see me :) Image is best at 160 x 120 (which sucks) but hey something is better than nothing. Well if you want a nice camera, don't get this. If you want something cheap (if you can get it for a couple of bucks or free, then this is for you!

This was pretty inexpensive After Rebate. So its considerably inexpensive. Installation was straight forward. With free games and ear phone in the package, and at this low price, this webcam was a real good deal.
Serves the basic purpose!! I like it! I would like to recommend this product.

As a cheap webcam, you also get free headset, don't expect too much, especially when it's free after rebate :-)
Easy installation, resolution is ok for internet chat, maybe you should only use it for Skype/MSN internet chat.

Strengths: easy to install, good images when using it in a bright place, can be placed in varies places (e.g. next to the LCD monitor or on top of my notebook computer)

Weakness: images tend to get blurry when I turned off the light because it lacks auto-lightening function.

I got this cam two weeks ago from amazon.com for free after rebate. For a price like this, I cannot complain for anything. Besides, it is not a bad choice if you are going to use it for fun. I recommend this product. I heard that newegg.com is now having it on sale for free after rebate as well, so you might want to check it out over there.

Strengths: Inexpensive, practical - easy to set up and use.

Weakness: Definitely on the low-end of webcams on the market today, in terms of video quality.

Inexpensive camera that works very well, easy to set up. Subpar in quality since this is quite an old model. If an economical and practical webcam is what you're looking for, without all the bells and whistles - this may just work out for you. If you're more interested in quality - avoid this webcam.

Nice Little WebCam

Strengths: Little, Hooks-up eaisly, Look

Weakness: Picture quality

I had trouble installing the camera software. It shutsdown my laptop, then I downloaded the software from their website.
Picture quality is not very good. But it worth for the price. It hooks-up well with laptop and LCD too. It comes with FREE headset and also 10 FREE games for Kids. My 8 years old son liked the games and also he has good time with cam.

Good Basic Webcam

simply works, picture's not great

Strengths: simple to install, comes with headset, some free eye-toy games

Weakness: picture quality suffers due to 352*288 low res sensor and USB 1.1 connection

This is my second webcam now, got the first one about two months ago, works great so far. Installation was easy, same as printers, install the software first then plug in cam into USB when prompted. The multi-attach base is designed to stay on any monitor(conventional CRT and thin LCD), and it works quite well, sits quite sturdy on the top of my LCD's top. Chatting softwares side, I've only used MSN live messenger, picture quality is OK, free headset works well.

This is a decent webcam for the price I got. The games it comes with is fun to try if you've never seem similar products from other webcam bundle or PS2 eye-toy games. All in all, the biggest con of the webcam is the quality, the pixel counts are low, colors are not good under incadescent lights condition at my house. I would recommend this webcam for under $20 if you can find one.

Strengths: Small, easy setup. It worked good.

Weakness: Picture resolution is poor.

It is average webcam. Picture quality is good on excellent light, but becomes bad in room-light. It is average webcam.
This product came with instant bonus pack, which is very much useful for skype / messgenger.

good budget webcam

Strengths: cheap, interface adhers well to a variety of monitor setups, including laptops

Weakness: slow USB 1.1 interface, poor image quality

I think this camera is great for situations where the image quality is not terribly important. This situation could be using Skype or Yahoo Messanger. The instant bonus pack also comes with free headset and games for children. I would still consider it a great deal for the price.

Good Webcam for cheap price

it's a very basic webcam, and low resolution, but for such a cheap price, it's already good enough for internet chatting. I believe it can do its work for most people. Besides, it's small, very easy to install on a monitor. Overall I like it.

Decent Webcam for the price!

Weakness: Low resolution (352 x 288 resolution) but to each his own.

This web cam does the job without any problems for most regular folks. If you are technically inclined, then look elsewhere.

Bottom line: Basic webcam without many bells and whistles and for the price there is nothing to lose!

good little webcam of its level

This is a low-end webcam with basic webcam features. At its price of $20-30, I think this is one of the best of its level.

Installation was a breeze - just install the driver and webcam center and you're ready to go. I like the bonus earphone/microphone piece - it is light and easy to put over my ear. Picture quality under good light is not bad.

Under low light, the picture is very grainy and the color is yellowish. You may need a very bright light during night. The mounting clip is not very tight, so I have to tighten it with a screwdriver and it is still unstable.

To summarize, this is a good camera at its price level.

Good, Fancy looking WebCam!!!

Strengths: Quality is just ok, small & compact, affordable

This WebCam is compact and small size. Works well with my old Dell laptop and new desktop too. Drivers are easy to install. Picture quality is ok. This is less price compare to others and with this price it works great. I have just started using it, did not came across any major issue yet. So I am happy with my purchase.

Good product

Strengths: Easy to install and use; 640 resolution is enough for us for MSN chat. The headset is a plus. We love it.

Weakness: No face tracking though.

Full featured camera, low quality image

It is the accompanying software and the low cost that makes this camera worthwhile. Additionally the 6ft corded over the ear headset with in-line mic is a bonus.


The camera allows for significant flexibility in its manual positioning. The camera lens can be rotated 360 degrees in relation to its base in the horizontal plane. In the vertical plane the camera lens can be angled about 45 degrees back and 45 degree forward from a position perpendicular to the base. The base is similar to a tripod with the two front legs being hooked at the end. The rear leg can be folded completely under the two front legs so that the camera can sit comfortably on a flat surface. The rear leg can folded back, up to 90 from the front legs. Thus the camera can easily be placed atop a flat panel display or a CRT type monitor.

To focus, the camera must be held steady and the focus wheel rotated. This makes focusing the camera somewhat cumbersome. Fortunately once the camera is focused, refocusing is generally unnecessary. Focusing on text an equal distance away as that of your subject, appears to work best. The image quality is fairly grainy. Image quality can be improved somewhat via the "WebCam-Center -> Source" settings. The image seems best when "WebCam-Center -> Format -> Output-Size" is set to 160x120.

The "WebCam-Center -> Motion-Detection" component of the WebCam Center permits fairly comprehensive control over motion detection. One can set the sensitivity, the area of the screen that is monitored, and whether sound and/or e-mail notification is given or not when motion is detected, along with a few other motion detection parameters.

The "WebCam-Center" additionally permits the configuration of "Remote Monitoring." Again the control is fairly comprehensive. Primarily it allows for the specification of an ftp server to which snapshots can be uploaded at a user specified time interval.

The accompanying software is designed for Microsoft Windows OS.

The webcam also works under linux using kernel modules spca5xx and zc0301 and opensource software. The lsusb ID for the webcam is 041e:4034.

I would recommend this camera and its software for instances where image quality is not paramount. It is probably better suited for remote monitoring than for video conferencing.

The price is very good and it's a web cam that works fine. Don't expect good resolution. It's a good toy for the kids. It definitely cannot be your primary web cam.

Good for the price

Strengths: Looking at this from a price perspective, this is a good webcam as it was very cheap after rebates. Positive aspects were: It was easy to Setup with my Windox XP. Would fix nicely on my LCD monitor

Weakness: Picture quality is not so great. Folks on the other side complained about grainy pictures. There is no way to change the focus. Noticed a good picture improvement if there is bright light in the room.

As I said earlier, this is a good buy for the price. Picture quality is ok. Not worth paying its complete retail price but if you can get a good deal after rebates I would suggest going for this. If not the primary webcam, this would surely be handy as the backup secondary webcam at home.

Good, basic, & cheap webcam

Strengths: Cheap, works. What else can I say, its just a webcam.

Weakness: Software that comes with it.

As a webcam, you can't beat this one for the price. It just plain works. Simply install the drivers, if possible, and skip the other software as it is processor intensive and can affect the quality of your image (or at least how you see it on your PC). If you're curious like me, then you probably already installed all the software it came with. Just remember to uninstall it when your PC starts acting up.
