Strengths: Easy to install and print server!

Weakness: Instructions didn't exactly match install.

This router was so easy to install. I believe anyone could use this product. It only took me 20 mins to install. There was no decrease in bandwidth at all. This is definitely a great buy for a novice or an expert.

Strengths: Effortless to set up, throughput is very fast, firewall is Excellent, remote administration ready, shared printer ready, port setup was very easy.

Weakness: Serves only 4 clients. (Perfectly reasonable at it's price range).

This is a professional piece of hardware that does it all.
Remote dialup admin and printer serving included. The only thing that makes it a "home" router is that it has only 4 outgoing ports. But, you can connect additional hubs to serve up to 252 additional clients. The included manual includes instructions on setting up TCP/IP and proxy settings using Microsoft 95, 98, 2K, etc. Works with Macs, works with Linux too. Current model is the SMC7004ABR.

Strengths: Has print sharing, works well.

Weakness: Configuring open ports isn't super simple.

I bought this router instead of the linksys, because it had more features at a better price. Even though I don't use the printsharing feature that often it is nice to have. I did have some trouble using the printsharing in Photoshop, it would print 1/4 of my picture then give a connection error.

I also had some problem configuring the router for use with IRC. I needed to open a port for identd, I couldn't figure out how to open just the one port, but was able to DMZ that computer opening all ports.

Strengths: EASY setup! Priced right. Print Server and Comm Port.

The Print Server and Serial - RS-232 port clinched the sale for me. I only have dial-up right now, so that Comm Port was critical for connecting our external modem.

With the print server, you aren't dependent on having a second PC powered up to access your shared printer. Rebates are frequently available, so try tracking those down before purchasing. SMC has excellent support. Buy this beauty with no fear!

Strengths: Easy to setup, almost plug and play.

Weakness: Router will hang sometimes, have to reset it.

I bought the router because it had a $50 rebate on it. Plus it had the printer sharing which I don't use now but might come in handy in the future.
