great microsd card!

Strengths: Reliable, comes with adapter

Weakness: none

Wow this thing is so tiny, when handling the card, it felt like I was going to crush it. I stuck this into my new razr phone and it works great. Seems to be compatibile with it. Turned my phone into a mp3 player now. Package also includes an SD adapter which is useful for my card reader. Highly recommended!

Reliable card

Strengths: Does what it is supposed to do. Nice price point for a quality memory card.

Weakness: None.

Works well in my HTC Tytn phone (aka Cingular 8525). The adapter lets me plug it into my PC memory reader too, for faster transfer of files.

Very tiny - I keep thinking I am going to break it or lose it (not a Kingston problem, just a comment about MicroSD in general).

Purchased on Buy.com - free shipping and google checkout savings!

Kingston 1gb microSD Memory Card

Strengths: Inexpensive; Tiny (like all microSD cards)

Weakness: Incompatibility issues (didn't work with my LG CU500 cellular phone)

Kingston's 1gb microSD card does what the advertisements claim it will do. However, the advertisements don't claim very much; there are no sales pitches of fast transfer speeds, enhanced data security, or any other special characteristics. This is a standard 1gb microSD card. It doesn't have any technical characteristics that make it stand out from other cards on the market.

That said, don't get the impression that I didn't like this card. It works fine, and it does what it is supposed to do. I don't want to underestimate the value of a product that does its job; as we all know, there are many products on the market that fall short of this mark. I just want to make it clear that this card doesn't come with any bells or whistles.

The upside of this simplicity is that this card is really cheap. That's one of the main reasons I decided to go with Kingston instead of competitors like SanDisk. This card can be found online at reputable dealers for less than $20 without any rebates. The other reason I chose this card is Kingston's solid reputation. Kingston is highly regarded in the computer memory industry, and I presume that their standards will carry over into the microSD market as well. So far, I haven't learned anything that would make me question Kingston's reputation in any industry.

The one BIG warning I have for anyone considering purchasing this card is to check compatibility. I wanted to use this card with my LG CU500 cellular phone, but unfortunately, the phone won't read the card. When I insert the card, the phone doesn't even register that there is a memory card installed. However, I blame this failure on LG and not on Kingston. I've used the card with other devices (e.g. digital camera, laptop computer, memory card reader), and it seemed to work normally. My cousin has an LG Chocolate cell phone that uses this memory card okay, and my phone uses a Kingston 512mb microSD card just fine. My only conclusion is that my cell phone doesn't accept Kingston 1gb microSD cards, for whatever reason. Again, I put the blame for this on the phone and not on the memory card.

So if you're in the market for a 1gb microSD card, I recommend that you consider this one. It does what it's supposed to do, and it's cheap; just make sure to double check that your device will accept this card first.

Perfect for phones!!!

Strengths: Does what it is supposed to do seamlessly - Comes with adapter, Cost, Lifetime Warranty, Write protection switch

Weakness: None

I got this 1GB microsd card for $32 total. It slipped right into my phone and is working seamlessly. I've copied all the pictures and videos from my phone onto it and then downloaded them. I've copied music from my PC onto the card and the songs sound great. This card is a bargain. I bought two more for my parents.
You can put the card in and use a USB cord for your phone or bluetooth but if you get a USB card reader for around $10 it will give you more flexability and quicker transfer rates.
As for the snugness issue. It might be a little snug the first time or two you use the adapter but loosens up some. I never had any problem using the adapter. All of the cards have worked with no problem and were a great deal!

Works Fine. Amazing what they can do these days....

Strengths: Works like a charm, no compatibility issues with my Samsung t-809 phone.

Weakness: None

Amazing what they can do these days. I often take this 1gb memory chip out of my phone just to show people that 1gb can be stored on something about 1/4 the size of a postage stamp.

Works fine, no compatibility issues with my Samsung T-809 phone.

The easiest way to use these things is to get a usb card reader, a little unit that plugs into usb and that you stick your MicroSD card into, and it appears just like a normal memory stick or drive on your computer. Mine cost something like $19 in the in-store best buy.

Excellent Product

Strengths: The brand name and quality.

Weakness: None

The MicroSD card came preformatted with every byte available to the user. Use a PC to create folders rather a cell phone as you have better control. I use it in my cell phone to store music & photos.

Works as advertized

Strengths: Excellent capacity in this form factor

Weakness: The card in the accompanying SD adapter is a very snug fit.

Purchased this MicroSD from outpost.com for $29.99 and have been using it in my Sprint Fusic phone for over a week. Used the supplied SD adapter to transfer mp3 files from my PC using an SD card reader. Write speeds are very good.

Inserted the card into the phone. It was recognized immediately and was able to play the mp3 files just fine. Used the camera in the phone to take multiple pictures and videos. Writing to the card from the phone also works well.

Also used the card with the SD adapter in my HP Ipaq and was able to successfully read and write data.

The only issue I've had with the card is its snug fit in the supplied adapter. It was a pain to coax the card back out of the adapter without exerting undue force. I've used other microSD cards in other SD adapters and those have all been a lot less snug.

All said, it is definitely great value for money and I would recommend it.

I got it for $29.99 shipped from outpost.com
The adapter came in handy to transfer 500MB of mp3s for my new BlackBerry 8100 Pearl from my PowerBook via a card reader. Transfer speed was quite good that way.
(Bluetooth transfer is limited by BlackBerry for security reasons, and the new PocketMac USB transfer/sync software just became available). love having a couple of hours of mp3s on my phone;-)

kingston 1gb micro sd

Strengths: small and convenient

Weakness: i haven't experienced weaknesses yet.

The Micro SD card is a very good product at a very good price. I still can't fill it up, it is big enough for quite a lot of things. I have been using it for 4 days and I love it, it is so convenient to have it.

Excellent card

Strengths: Highly portable, surprisingly durable, reliable, fast, includes carry case, includes adapter, and simply works.

Weakness: These microSD cards are sooo tiny. I know that's not really a weakness just me whining.

This microSD card works great with my LG VX8300 phone. I've been able to download a lot of music onto the card for playback on the phone. No problems with file transfers or music playback.

Kingston was also kind enough to include a microSD to SD converter that could come in handy later, as well as a plastic travel case.

Quality Issues?

Strengths: High capacity. Works well in my phone

Weakness: Quality concerns

The purchased card turned out to be DOA. Was unreadable using an external card reader and in the phone (LG Chocolate - Verizon).

Contacted Kingston, RMAd the card back and received a replacement card within a couple of days. The new card worked just fine. Adequate read and write speeds. Stored mp3 files and images and video taken using the camera phone.

Seems to be working fine so far. The RMA process was painless. Kingston paid for return shipping via FedEx as well.

Unknown if it works with GPS mp3s. Kingston has not tested for that. Comment applies only to 1 gigabyte. Assume it is true for 2 gb.

Memory review

Strengths: compact solid. So small

Weakness: slow

This came fast for the pricegrabber recommended store. Install is easy . I do not know weather it is the motorola v3i phone or the memory card itself that is slow. Ite works as descrbed and has an adapter with it so you can use in a regular sd reader. It is amazing how small this is for 1 full gig.

Excellent card! Adapter and carrying case included!

Strengths: Carrying case and adapter included!

Weakness: None that I could find.

The card works great and includes the adapter as well as carrying case. The card adds a lot of memory in a very small package! The adapter allows you to read the card in any SD card reader. The carrying case helps you keep track of the small card when not in use.

Kingston 1GB microSD Card

Strengths: Plenty of space. Cheap. Comes with SD adapter.

Weakness: A little slow. The digital camera of my phone has become practically useless. If you are not going to use it for saving pictures on your phone, it should be a great purchase.

I bought this 1GB microSD card for my Nokia 6131. It works great for me because I only use it to save music. But if you wish to use it with the camera feature of your phone this might not be the best option. I am not an expert in memory cards, but I realize that my phone takes and processes pictures much faster with its internal memory rather than with this card. Other than that it really is perfect. Works as promised, cheap, and the included SD adapter adds a lot of flexibility.

Kingston 1GB MicroSD Card

Strengths: Very reasonable price, decent build quality

Weakness: write protection tab on the side often times locks on its own when inserting the adapter card into certain card readers.

The card is reasonably priced, and if one searches on the internet, he can find a very reasonably priced microSD card that has good quality to it.

It works as a standard micro SD card, plug it in to your reader, write/copy your data, and stick it in to whatever device you want.

My particular problem is with the SD adapter: the size is somewhat awkward. the Write-protect tab on the left side of the adapter occasionally jams with certain types of card readers, making it really tough to pull the card out or it will not allow you to write/copy your data to the card.

Other than that, it's a good product.

Horrible Return System

Strengths: None

Weakness: Compatibility, Service, Returns

I bought this product to use with a Kingston SD Card reader and it didn't work. The SD card would work in other readers and the Reader would read other cards but they wouldn't work together. So I called Kingston and they said to send it back and they would send another one. After the initial contact, I never heard from Kingston again unless I called them. Even with me calling every few days, it took 3 weeks to get a replacement. At one point they promised they would send it overnight and they didn't. With all the other choices on the market, I'm sure I won't buy from Kingston again.

Awesome price, service and product!

Strengths: Kingston name; one of the best in the memory business.

Weakness: N/A

Great price, extremely fast shipping, and the product works! What more is there to it? Speed? Well with a RAZR V3i, and the microSD, it's slow! But it depends on what you are comparing it to. I am comparing to my Audiovox 5600 which uses MiniSD, and it moves stuff faster. I think it's because of the small size, stuff has to be shoved in there harder and it takes longer lol.

Great MicroSD Card at a Great Price!

Strengths: Inexpensive, tremendous capacity, fast transfers, comes with microSD adapter

Weakness: None

I bought this card to greatly increase the storage capacity of my Verizon RAZR v3m phone for music, pictures, and movies. I knew that the microSD slot on the v3m is not easily accessible (you need to remove the battery to get to it), but the amount of storage available on the card more than offsets that drawback. Besides, that's not the card's fault!

This card is definitely compatible with the RAZR v3m and I highly recommend it.

Great product

Strengths: Good price, functional, comes with SD adapter

Weakness: Had a minor incompatibility with a cell phone

Kingston makes high-quality memory products, and I've always had good luck with them. This 1 GB chip was a steal when I bought it in February 2007 and has only gotten better.

I did have a minor issue where my cell phone performed more poorly when using this micro-SD card than with a 128 MB generic that I had. However, I do not think it is related to the Kingston product. That cell phone had trouble with other micro-SDs--it was just that this Kingston was worse. I believe it was more due to the large 1 GB capacity, which was probably not around when my cell phone was first designed. Like I said, it's probably not the fault of the Kingston flash card, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has had similar issues. I've used the Kingston card in other devices without any trouble whatsoever.

Brand new and works great.

Strengths: Excellent product out of the box. Brand new in sealed blister pack, retail packaging. Great price, expect to find it at twice the $$ other places.

Weakness: None at all, except that the micro card is small for my fat fingers to handle - but that's not the product's fault. :)

This is a great product and exactly as described. I popped it right into my cell phone and it immediately was recognized. Then I popped it into the included adapter so it could be read by my SD card slot, and it worked flawlessly. Transferring data is now going to be snap. I have NO REGRETS!

Not working as designed.

Strengths: Works great in camera phone.

Weakness: Won't work in Digital camera or in card reader.

I bought this card so I can use it in both my camera phone and my digital camera.
It works great in my camera phone right out of the box, but have not been able to get it to work in my digital camera. It keeps saying "unable to use card". When I insert it in the card reader on my pc, it says it's not formatted, but when I give it the ok to format, it just gives me an error that says "Windows was unable to format this drive".

Awesome!

Strengths: Lots of room Fast Easy to use

Weakness: None that I found

This memory card is great and I received it very fast in perfect condition. I would recommend the product and the seller to everyone!

I have taken and transferred overt 100 pictures from my phone with this card. It is simple to use and with the adapter I didn't have to buy anything else, I just plugged it into my card reader and it picked it right up.

I also use it to play MP3s on my phone with out any skipping, I had that problem with a different card I had purchased.

very reliable memory device, easy to use

Strengths: Tiny, easy to use, widely supported, fast write, reliable.

Weakness: I imagine it is easy to damage, due to small size.

I am using this with an M3 DS Simply to run homebrew applications on a Nintendo DS Lite, it has worked flawlessly, and was very easy to use with my Linux desktop. I imagine it is well supported in Windows and Mac OS as well. There are a few applications for the DS that have had issues with this device, but I have not encountered them.

tiny and cheap

Strengths: inexpensive lots of memory

Weakness: none

I bought this for my Fusic phone. It worked immediately, and has an enormous amount of memory for such a low price in a chip that's smaller than my fingernail. I have had no problems with this card; it easily holds dozens of songs, and the access time and listening experience is no different than with my IPod. The transfer speed between my phone and my computer isn't amazing, but I can't tell if that's because of the card or because of the phone. But for $11, I think it's a great deal.

LG CU500

Strengths: Will work in majority of phones. Got it for $9.99 at newegg.com. Great price and shipped in a day. Works for my husbands phone.

Weakness: Doesn't work for mine!!! LG CU500. Have done several of the formatting tricks they suggested. My luck it finally worked and was reading the songs, but I had only a few songs on it. C'est la vie

Great product really. 1 gigabyte for 10 bucks, but I wish they had mentioned that it might not be compatible. I always thought a card was a card. Big no. If you go to Kingston.com you can find out if it's compatible with your product. I nearly pulled out my hair before I realized it wasn't my fault.

1gb MicroSD card

Strengths: Works like it should, Cheap for a 1gb card.

Weakness: Small slowdown noticed occasionally, Feels like you're going to break or drop and lose it every time you touch it.

This card is great for the price. It also comes with a micro SD to standard SD adapter. I notice some slight slowdown occasionally in what I use it for (games) but I'm starting to think it's more the hardware I'm using it with rather than the card itself.

Excellent purchase, and I'm likely to buy more of these.

Strengths: Larger card works fine in Garmin i2 GPS.

Weakness: None observed.

I used this 1 GB card to load maps for the entire USA for my low-line Garmin i2 GPS which came with a 128 KB card. It holds everything and works great in this application. I cannot judge how fast the card is in this application, but the GPS works at least as fast as it did on the supplied card.

Strengths: It works in my Motorola V3m RAZR and my Canon i900D printer.

Weakness: Hard to get back out of the phone, but that's probably true of any MicroSD card.

Weakness: None.

Great company, but make sure you check compatibility

Strengths: Lifetime warranty, price per GB!

Weakness: Not compatible with any of my devices!!

I went through such hell with this memory card. It would lock up my MacBook and had to shut it down improperly, my LG CU500 could not read it, my Pentax camera. Only my friends Samsung phone. After calling up Kingston 3 different times, the third guy had the sense to ask me what I would primarily be using it with and said my CU500, he said it wasn't compatible due to the uncommon driver on the card. I would never think about compatibility considering anytime I ever bought flash memory it always worked. Well I give 5 stars to the company but 2 stars because the card that was a big hassle and now I have to return it or sell it to a friend.

Good Value

Strengths: Price, Verstility

Weakness: I guess the weakness is that its so small i could accidently put it in my ear or something

It's a 1 gb card for cheap. It doesn't do much but it is a micro card so its more versatile than a standard sd card it comes with a little plastic protective case like most sd cards. The best thing about it is the price.
