Double the single layer storage.

Strengths: Great capacity.

Weakness: Kind of expensive if not on sale.

Very good product to use from one of the most trusted name in media disc. Good media with good dye to keep for archiving purposes. One of the best media around.

The only DL disc's that I ever use.

Strengths: Consitant quality. Plays back in 5 diffrent brands of dvd players that I have with no problems.

Weakness: Price

These disc's are the best. I have not had any coasters after using over a hundred now. They are more expensive than other DL media, but the old saying is true, you get what you pay for.

20PK DVD+R 8.5GB DL 8X-SPINDLE

Strengths: Reliability

Verbatim made very good dual layer discs. This was the first brand I used and I have not look back. Although, they a bit pricier than their competitors you cannot beat the reliability of burns. I have burned over 50 of these discs and have a 100% success rate.

Verbatim DVD+R DL Media

Strengths: High Quality, very compatible and reliable.

Weakness: None.

I have used these with several NEC burners with consistent, exellent results. I have burned some video to these discs and they have worked flawlessly in all players. Mostly I have used these discs to create MP3 DVD's and to backup data from my PC. I have no intention of buying any other brand of DL media.

Burns perfectly!

Strengths: I've tried multiple types of +R Dual Layer media, this one has best burning success rate and has best compatibility with mutilple players.

For everyday, general consumer use you should find that these discs will give you a high quality, dependable burn.
I highly recommend these discs for your approved DVD+R DL burner. (Remember to check the media compatablitly of your drive BEFORE you purchase these discs or any other disc! See your drive manufacturer's website for details.)

Great media

Strengths: Fast, reliable, no coasters

Weakness: expensive

Verbatim are the best dual layer media you can currently buy. They burn fast, last along time and produce very few coasters. Of course, they are a bit more expensive than other brands, but they're well worth it!

Awesome quality!

Strengths: Low PIE/PIF

Weakness: Expensive!!

Burnt with pioneer dvr-111d stock firmware 1.19, quality scanned by nero cdspeed 4.51.1 using a different dvd-rom because dvr-111d is not a good drive for scanning discs. The values of PIE/PIF of are so low! Media code is MKM 001. Awesome quality, highly recommended!!

Not Compatible with All Burners

Strengths: none

Weakness: Not recognized by my LG GSA-5163D DVD/CD Re-Writer.

Not recognized by my LG GSA-5163D DVD/CD Re-Writer, although the packaging states, "DVD+/-R, +/-RW, DVD-RAM All DVD formats compatible". Whether this is related to defective hardware, I can't say for sure, although the burner has never failed to recgognize an other media. Only problems I have had in successfully burning well over a hundred DVDs is some bad TDK media.

20PK DVD+R 8.5GB DL 8X-SPINDLE

Strengths: Fast 8x dual layer dvds

Weakness: High price

I am very pleased with these dual layer dvds. I haven't had any coasters and they burn at 8x on my plextor px-716a. These are high quality and very fast discs. My only complaint would be the price. Other than that, these are the best in the market right now.

Verbatim Dual Layer DVD+R

Strengths: Best Speed and Compatibility

Weakness: Highest Price

These are simply the best dual layer dvds made. They have the best compatibility with burners and the fastest speeds (up to 8x). The AXO dye has been much more reliable in my experience than Ridata dual layer. The only downside is the high cost.

Verbatim Review

Strengths: Great burns, no coasters, inexpensive

Weakness: None

This is one of the best, if not THE best dual-layer media available. I've burned several dual-layer DVDs with no problems. Its other strength is that it's relative inexpensive, so you won't break a bank when purchasing a 20-pack of DVDs. Perfect for burning 3-hour home-made movies in best quality.

Worth the extra cost.

Strengths: Not one coaster yet. Great quality.

Weakness: None

If you want your disc's to play 5 years from now as well as they play today, then pay the extra money now so you won't be sorry later.

Only DL discs I've ever used, probably the only I'll...

Strengths: Product works exactly as it should - no coasters, only pure grade A double layer burning.

Weakness: None.

As anyone in the know knows, Verbatim makes quality discs. If you don't want to hassle tossing out unusable DVDs, do yourself a favor and buy VERBATIM DVD+R DL's. Go Verbatim! Hip Hip Hooray.

Great Disc so far,

Strengths: No failed writing

Weakness: No work on all DVD burner.

These discs are fantastic. I just purchased a 16X DL burner and I've had such great luck with the standard Verbatim+R, I went for the DL disks.

For everyday, general consumer use you should find that these discs will give you a high quality, dependable burn. Some may ask if they are archival quality, and I have to say that my guess is 'no.' Unless the disc specifically says "archival quality" then I would assume that they are standard discs (which have been found to deteriorate over time.

Perfect (as expected)

Strengths: Perfect (as expected)

Weakness: None

Purchased at the Egg (one of the best e-places around).
The only vendor (Verbatim) among other DLs with ZERO problems (99.9%) (on functional equipment obviously :)
Burnt at 8x without any probs:

DVD-Video: BenQ 1650 -> Sonic RecordNow!

The best DL DVD media!

Strengths: Consistently perfect burns at all speeds - 2.4x - 8x. Compatibility of burnt discs with DVD players.

Weakness: None

While Verbatim media may not be the least expensive, they have always been the most reliable. These DL DVD+R discs are no different. I've been using them for a few months and have burnt over 50 discs using my NEC 3550a DVD writer. Every single one of them has been perfect. I've been able to play backed up movies on five different DVD players without any skips or stalls.

Very impressed with the consistency, reliability and performance of these media.

Reliable + Great Value

Strengths: Flawless burns. The compatibility and reliability of these DVDs are great.

Weakness: The speed is still only 2.4x which takes approx 25 minutes to burn.

The price of DL dvds are starting to come down. If you're looking to archive important data, these dvds are for you. They're reliable and one of the most trusted brands out there.

Great DL media

Strengths: reliable DL media with good price

Weakness: slow speed and still expensive

$1/disc is a good price for the dual layer media right now and it's from a very reliable company.
Have no problem with my old DVD player.
The price will come down but I just couldn't wait.

Verbatim +R DL

Strengths: No coasters or returns

Weakness: 8x for a double layer still takes 23 minutes per recording. I am looking forward to the price coming down.

I was making a video of the high school graduation and had about 150 orders. In addition to the 2 hour graduation, I put 45 minutes of bonus material. I also put multiple camera angles on the graduation part itself. The DVD was 97% full.

Every single one of 150 burned perfectly, taking 23 minutes each.

I always give customers a note for a free exchange of format if it doesn't play in their machine. It has been 60 days, and not one has said that it doesn't work. That compares with on average 2 out of 100 when I use either single sided +R or single sided -R. So it seems more compatible than single sided (layered ) at this point.

I am using an NEC 3530 which was in my Dell XPS when I bought it. The DVD program I used told me where to put the break to go from one layer to the other. But no matter where I put the break, I can't see any pause when the DVD playback shifts from one layer to the next.

I am not going to trust any other brand than Verbatim for the double layer because the pain of customer returns is way too high.

WooHoo!!!

Strengths: Awesome Price!!!!

Weakness: DVD's are too expensive in general.

These DVD's work great, and you can find them for a great price at many places. Betting prices will come down further with more readily availble blue ray technology, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

One of the best

Strengths: Excellent DL media. These are rated among the best of the DL media.

Weakness: None.

I have used about thirty of these disks so far and not a single "coaster" yet, I cannot say that about other brands that I have used. I highly recommend Verbatim DL DVD media.

Burn Perfect and Fast

Strengths: Burn at max speed 8X, No coaster, MCC media code

Weakness: Price, Not electronic labeling capable (no lightscribe, etc.)

These are great discs. With a suitable burner (firmware update), they will burn at the maximum speed for DL DVD at 8X. Never a coaster with these. These discs carry MCC code which are known for quality media. Very few errors during burn (as checked my Nero) and can be relied upon for important long term data backups as well as quality movies recordings. At present, they are a little expensive but deals can be found for around $1.25/disc. I stock on these whenever I see a deal.

Pretty Good If You Have the Right Burner!

Strengths: Able to Fit 8.5 Gigabytes on a single disc! Solid Burns

Weakness: Slowness in burner (Only burns @ 2.4x) More expensive than regular DVDRs

I had a Lite-On burner which burned some homemade movies onto these disc played them back fine in the DVD Player of the TV. A couple days later, the disc would inaccessible by the DVD player. I don't know if it was just a sensitive DVD player or what.

I had burned the same movie on a BENQ burner, and it played fine in the DVD player. A couple days later I wanted to see if the DVD was still good, and it was! I guess the moral of the story is burn it with a BENQ burner if you got one.

best dual layer discs available

Strengths: works with every player i used

Weakness: costs more than dvd+r

these are the only discs i've used that works with every player i've tried it on. that includes some cheap dvd players, xbox, ps2, etc. definately better than ritek and other brands. if only these were cheaper then it'd be all gravy.

Great Media Small Price!

Strengths: Never had one fail and it holds almost 2x as much data as a regular dvd. Also very cheap right now!

Weakness: Comes in small packages of 10 or 20 would prefer to buy more at a time.

What can I say other than great quality at a reasonable price. Verbatim has always worked great in my burners and it continues to preform well in my new Sony dru-800a.

Amazing Media!

Strengths: Cheapest stuff out there for the quality of the media. Havent had one fail on me yet. Using an NEC 3500 and havent looked back since the first one i burned.

Weakness: They only come in these small quantities. I am ready to begin buying 50 and 100 packs!

Amazing media for the price. Great for backing up large quantities of data. I have my entire music library stored on one of these badboys and i just take it everywhere i go. its quite convenient. I've used the media to back up everything from video to music to data and have never felt uncomfortable doing so. i cannot attest to the speed since my burner doesn't burn DL at faster than 4x but it works quite well at that speed and i am happy. A+++++++ media. need BULK though!

Best DL media you can buy.

Strengths: Excellent quality

Weakness: None

Never had any problems with this media on my old 4 year old dvd player. Any other DL media I try causes skips as the movie approaches the layer transition.

A brand name you can trust!

Strengths: Solid and reliable. I have never had a coaster yet.

Weakness: Certain players are temperamental about +dl discs

Pay the little extra if necessary and if you can get then at equal cost, to other brands, then there should be no question. Plays in my Sony DVD no problem. Some players have given me trouble with dual layer and this usually occurs at the layer break and beyond but I think that has more to do with the players and I bet if you put a different brand in there it would have the same problem or not play at all. I think this is as close as your going to get to a pressed DVDs when it comes to dual layer.

Good Media

Strengths: Burn reliability

Weakness: Speed

These are by far and away the most reliable of the DL I have tried. While there are other brands, Verbatim has produced the most consistent burns. I was backing up some data the other night, and had 3 of the other brand that had verify errors. I popped one Verbatim in and it verified fine.
The only downside is they only burn at 2.4X, not 8 as some sellers imply.

DVD DL

Strengths: Large size, ability to use different burning speeds

Weakness: expensive, but all DL disks are...

I purchased these so I could burn more than 2 hours of great quality video to a disk. This helps for movies and sporting events that I've recorded. It worked fine for me. Would deffinatly buy them again.
