Great phone

Strengths: Look & feel, screen, itunes, 512mb card

Weakness: No memo recording, and price

This phone has all the features that the Razr V3 had and then some more. Of course, itunes, airplane mode, a sharper screen, an updated & more reliable software and the aesthetics of it put the SLVR way ahead of the Razr. itunes works great! Just like in your ipod. The sync between the phone the the Motorola Phone Tools software works perfectly. The Address Book is extensive and has many categories that are useful. The speaker and earphones to listen to the itunes work very well. The speakerphone feature also works well. Just about the only drawback that I can see would be the fact that it lacks memo recording, which to me was very useful in my Razr. Also, I paid just about $300.00 for it. But if you can afford it, the phone is great. I strongly recommend it.

Don't really know what to tell you. All I can say is that when I bought it back on 02/10/06 the salesperson told me that it came with a 512mb card & that the phone was $315.00

They all now come with 512MB currently. I just bought mine last month. Look it up on the Motorola website.

Great Phone!!!

Strengths: Looks,iTunes and included 512MB card (on Cingular), Speakerphone is excellent, can watch movies if you know how to do it. Charges from Mini-USB cable Battery is pretty good.

Weakness: File/iTunes transfer is painfully slow. Phonebook is not the best. Camera should be better at this price. Requires a adapter to use regular headphones

I personally hate clamshell phones, which was the only reason I did not buy a razr...So when I saw the SLVR came out (which is essentially the razr with a better screen, itunes, and no-flip) I had to get it. (especially when best buy had it for $129).

This phone is beautiful and just as functional.

iTunes:
It has iTunes, which was not a selling point for me but more of a bonus. iTunes is limited to 100 songs, which is not a big deal since it takes FOREVER to transfer songs, Even though the transfer is USB 1.1, it seems even slower, possibly due to the slow write speeds of trans-flash.

Speaker:

The Speakerphone works so great, i use it all the time...I was originally going to buy a bluetooth headset for the car, but I simply use the speakerphone.
I also find myself (and everyone else) in the gym listining to music witout headphones...
..only down side is the speaker is on the back, so you have to lay the screen side down if you want to hear the speaker the best.

Multimedia:

Contrary to what Motorola might say, you can watch full length movies on this thing. You simply have to encode with MPEG4 (64bit) at 176x 144 / mono/ and 15fps
The movies come out to be around 50mb for 2hrs...the only thing is that you should break them up since there is no way to fast-forward or rewind.
You can also add your own ringtones..either using the PhoneTools (for $30) which is easy to use, but limits the ring to 64kbps (which sounds ok)..you can do it manually and set the ring upto 192kpbs and your ring will sound like sombody has a boombox nearby.

Everything else:
The battery is not bad at all...I've watched 1 hour of video, listen to iTunes (thru speaker) for an hour, and talked around 30 mins and it used two bars..but make sure you set the brightness to around 3 or less.

It seems like it will scratch easily, but I've had it for a month and everything I thought was a scratch seems to wipe away...But I still use the leather pouch($10) when I go to the gym simply for the clip.
I also find myself constantly wiping the screen after use.

the phonebooks is pretty bad, but you can do all the entry using the Phonetools program.
the camera is pretty weak for this price of a camera, but you can store almost unlimited pictures given the tfcard.
And it would of been nice if there was a simple 3.5mm headset jack on the phone.

One quick note about Motorola's choice to go with Mini-USB...this is awesome. How many times have you been down to 1 bar and no charger in sight. All you need to find is a Mini-USB cable (which many devices including blackberries use) and a computer with XP (since it has the drivers and will not charge without being recognized..according to Motorola)

I just purchased mine last month from CompUSA for $29.99 and it came with a free wireless Motorola RAZR H3 Bluetooth headset. You really need to look around at other stores than Best Buy when shopping for new phones. I love the phone but would have never paid as much as most stores have offered them prior to that special.

Wickedly Cool Phone

Strengths: Bluetooth, iTunes (comes with 512MB micro SD flash card), slim size, lightweight, eye grabber, voice activated dialing, alarm clock, airplane mode, and numerous other great features.

Weakness: iTunes has a 100 song limit, bluetooth headphones cannot be used to listen to iTunes

I love this phone. I thought I wouldn't use the "airplane mode" feature, but I ended up using the SLVR as an iPod when I was flying on business. IT was one less thing to pack. I was a little disappointed when I realized the itunes 1.0 version on this phone doesn't stream through bluetooth devices, but I am hoping they update the software to overcome both this and the 100 song limitation. In the "Settings" menu under "Phone Status" there is an option for "Software Update" which has your phone check to see if there is an updated version of the phone's software available. The phone is still new, so I haven't seen any updates yet, but I expect they will have some in the future.

Perfect

Strengths: Great slim and flat design. Contains almost all normal cellphone features. Good music.

Weakness: Transfering phone entries to it is a disaster. Phonebook is bad. No way to turn off beeping in low battery.

This phone looks almost perfect. I don't even feel it when I put in my pocket. I have bought this phone from Cingular and it comes with a 512 mini SD, a USB cable, a headphone / handsfree, an audio connector and a charger.

I love this phone because
1) It looks great.
2) I can do a lot of things... taking snapshots, listening to music (quality just similar to any MP3 player), using Java applications and playing games on it, watching tiny video...
3) It lets me transfer songs, photos, videos and games from PC to phone using the provided USB cable (it's just a normal mini USB cable). It avoids pricey direct download from the cellphone.
4) USB cable can be used as a charger when connected to a PC.
5) Battery cover is tight. It should be safe from falling.
6) It allows adventurous users to upgrade firmware on their own using third party software.

.. but I don't like about these ...
1) Well, starting to use this phone is really disaster, very time-consuming. There is no easy way to copy contact list from previous phone gracefully, especially if you have multiple entries (phone numbers) for a single person.
2) Again, the phonebook is bad. When assigning a person to have multiple entries by "Setting as Primary", but you have to assign their icons and ringtones several times...
3) To synchronize with outlook address book, you have to pay $35 to BUY a software from Motorola LEGALLY. This is the first time I heard the software doesn't come with the phone for free.
4) The phone keeps beeping in low battery and it can't be muted.
5) There are some pre-defined Cingular things that I can't delete to reclaim space.

Sweet Phone...Best All-Around phone

Strengths: Flat/candybar format that beats the RAZRs Ultra clear screen with a top-notch pixel resolution iTunes player that works flawlessly and allows CD images Great gaming performance

Weakness: Other callers complain that the sound is "echo-ey" Small number buttons are hard to press Camera quality is fairly low when compared to today's tech

I was about to purchase the Motorola ROKR, but once this phone hit the streets, it quickly became the new standard. I have service w/Cingular, and call quality is very decent, but callers complain that there is an echo in the sound.

My few cons are stated above, and almost caused me to look into the new Sony phones with 3.2mp cameras...but if you're looking for the best "all-around" phone, that is ultra-slim, the SLVR is for you!

I would highly recommend this phone!

SLVR 7

Strengths: Size, appearance, sound quality.

Weakness: Keypad and slow data transfer with micro SD card.

Excellent phone. The voice quality on both handset and the At the times the Cingular coverage is weak, but never dropped any calls. My only issue is that the keypad is sometimes hard to dial due to the size of my fingers. As far as the camera and video is concerned, I would have the resolution would be bigger and better and the video duration be longer than 30 seconds. Aside from that I recommend this phone for convenience and its style.

SLVR Motorola Good

Strengths: small size, nice screen, high quality speaker phone, integration with moto phone tools software, durable appearance, sound quality, USB Charging

Weakness: no speaker independent voice dialing

I received this phone today. I was impressed with the heft for a tiny sleek phone. It feels great. The quality of the speaker phone is excellent. I use Cingular, and the area I'm currently in has weak coverage. Still the phone rarely drops a call. I attempted to connect to iTunes on my Windows XP notebook - but no luck. Apparently a transflash/microSD card must be installed. My purchase did not include one. I ordered a transflash 512MB card and look forward to loading the max - 100 songs - onto the unit. The Phone Tools disk that I received with my RAZR phone works fine with the SLVR phone. Excellent image management - a simple click or two and you can easily transfer an image or MP3 ringer sound. USB 2 would be better, but for the few files I transferred USB 1 is not a problem. Overall - a very nice phone. I've ordered a silicone skin for it - about $15 on ebay. I recommend the SLVR phone.

Cool Phone

Strengths: thin, light, clear, stylish

Weakness: none

Continue its success with razr, Motorola release Slvr and it is the L7. The phone is very compact and yet equiped with a lot of functions. You have Bluetooth, expandable transflash memory card, iTunes softwares, etc.

Excellent phone if you don't like Flip phones

Strengths: Excellent features, 1000 song iTunes (not cingular), expandable memory, USB charging

Weakness: Keypad takes a little getting used to

Ive had this phone for 2 weeks now and its great. I compare it with my 2nd phone which is a Motorola Razr V3. The expandable memory is great. I have Tmobile so i bought this phone unlocked, and after a few software updates, have installed a 1000 song version of Itunes. The cingular one comes with a 100 limit cap which is pretty silly. There is a lot of space for all your Java applications & games. The sound quality is amazing without headphones... bye bye IPOD.

Can you post where you found the software updates to get a 1000 song itunes...having a 100 song limit is pretty silly. Infact, it makes less and less sense to me as i think about it. Also, do you know if the updates will work for cingular coverage as well?

Nice phone

Strengths: Small, loaded with features, stylish, easy to use

Weakness: None noted

I bought this phone for my son as a birthday gift. Being the latest and greatest phone it scored high points in the teenage set. I found it easy to use as I have been using a Motorola phone for a few years now. if you shop around you can get this phone for less than $100 w/2 year commitment. I wonder if it can survive a teenagers abuse....

stylish phone at at great price

Strengths: itunes, looks amazing

Weakness: usb 1.0 on song transfer, lack of good voice dialing

Bought this phone for $140 on and it's quite a great phone for the cost. It's got iTunes built in so you can play back 100 songs, though the transfer speed (USB 1.0) is really slow; takes about 1 hr to transfer all of your songs onto the phone.

The voice dialing is kind of sketchy; you have to "record" an entry into the phone book. Also the data connection is quite slow; no EDGE support (GPRS only).

otherwise, the phone is quite stunning and works quite well. It's thinner than the RAZR too so that's an added plus.

Best Phone On Market

Strengths: iTunes Slim Design Nice Screen Sweet Keypad

Weakness: Unprotected Screen Low Quality Camera

I just recently got this phone for highschool graduation, and i love it. So far i have yet to scratch the screen (surprisingly). Even though i did not buy it on-line, i got a great deal. the miracle that is walmart had the SLVR L7 on sale, of course you had to get a 2 year contract, for $5. This phone is great. As for complaints about the camera, i bought this as a phone first, music player second, the camera was just a pleasant surprise.

Sleek, Responsive, very solid

Strengths: The unit is very sleek and solid-feeling for its size. It's fairly responsive and the screen is sharp. Reception is good, especially in my condo where my previous phone didn't get reception!

Weakness: Battery door is a bit flimsy and I feel like it will break every time I put it on. SIM is behind battery. Address book isn't organized how I'd like.

Overall, good phone. My decision was between this and a RAZR - I chose the RAZR for my wife as she's very abusive of electronics and it will fare better with her. I've had a flip phone for several years and I'm excited to have a bar phone now - no more flipping open the phone to talk!

Its my second SLVR and its still do the same thing.

Strengths: Its small and has itunes saved me from buying an iPod. For the same price of an iPod I got a phone too.

Weakness: Like I said this is my second SLVR and it keeps on freezing, or it won't connect to my calls, and the camera should have a flash so you can take night pictures more clearly.

When I think about it I should have gotten the Sony Ericsson, freezing phone suck and trying to make a call 2 to 3 times sucks too especially when you have to turn it off and on for it to work correctly. What if I was chase man I would be SOL, I know its not the network because I was doing fine with my Nokia. So if you thinking about get this phone you may want to think twice ask around, my wife friend had the same problem. The only good thing I have to say about this phone is the Strengths.

Could've been a GREAT phone...

Strengths: itunes, style, battery

Weakness: itunes, transfer rate, speed, lack-of-software

I'll get right to the major points:

Style: The phone itself looks really nice, but scratches fairly easy but has survived drops on all kinds of survaces.

Battery: The battery is excellent! I don't use the Mp3 function everyday so there has been times where the battery lasted almost 3 days.

Apps: This was my first camera phone and it lives up to the typical quality you would expect. Video recording is not impressive but also expected. One annoying feature you can't zoom in in the middle of recording video but before you can. Another annoying thing is it lacks an audio recorder!!! The 512mb card with an audio recorder would've helped me in a few classes. Mind you, you can record audio when you want to use the Voice Dail feature. Another lacking feature is no timer/countdown timer. Also the phone itself runs slightly slow, which becomes very apparent when you look at the Logo's when the phone is powered up and down.

Now what they do is offer software "Motorola Phone Tools" which will allow you to make mp3 ring tones, upload this and that, and dial out. Now the phone SHOULD HAVE COME WITH THIS FOR FREE. They charge a silly amount for the software that other companies offer for free.

itunes: It's nice that it integrates with itunes, but it shouldn't force you to use itunes. And it's very slow to transfer songs simply because half the time the itunes library is "updating"

Motorola SLVR L7 Cellular Phone - Bar

Strengths: Its looks nice other then that its just like every other phone

Weakness: It doesn't play MP3's, I don't know if it happens to be the one I received but the description said MP3 ready and this phone is not

The point of getting the SLVR L7 was to download MP3's on to it, but when I received the phone it was not MP3 ready which mean getting the phone was a waste of time seeing how it doesn't even accomplish the ultimate goal for buying the phone

cell phone purchase

Strengths: product shipment tracker very efficient and on time. Product came in very good condition .

Weakness: cannot contact original shipper or company that the product came from..one piece of the product was missing

I tried to contact all that was involved with the product to find out if the memory card was part of the sale or not.The accompanying paperwork said there was a memory card but none was found in the box. I asked all of those involved if I have to purchase the card as a separte item but did not receive a answer. So I just assumed that would be the answer.
It would be nice if someone would answer the email questions.

Satisfactory, but will probably not purchase from...

Strengths: - adjusted destination of delivery upon immediate e-mail request sent after order was placed - relatively quick shipment of product

Weakness: - Most accessories were generic; not specified in original description - CD with MotoTools worked, but was quite scratched (even though phone was new) - Defective TransFlash

Although the "microSD/TransFlash" included within the shipment was broken, I did not contact the shipper with this information. Rather than hassle with a return, I instead contacted the original manufacture of the product (Motorola). After speaking with a technical representative from Motorola, I was issued a RA# and mailed the defective product to Motorola. They eventually sent me a new "microSD/TransFlash" chip back through the mail. I chose to work directly with the manufacture instead of contacting the original shipper because I thought that I may have a better chance of getting a new, OEM product: I did.

Two recommendations for the shipper and his/her future shipments:

1) Please tell the customer that they are going to receive a mixture of OEM/generic and/or new/used products when applicable. This will help reduce future conflicts.

2) Please also make sure to test/tryout all generic and/or previously opened products that are not sealed inside OEM packaging. This type of check will reduce the risk of sending generic and/or OEM products that do not work, such as the broken TransFlash I received. It would have been nice if this portion of my purchase was properly checked before shipment, especially considering it was sent inside a resealable bag.

Otherwise, thank you for my Motorola L7 mobile phone.

Lastly, please also note in your description whether you are selling a European or US phone within future descriptions. Though this difference can be dealt with by changing the language settings, their are some features that do not exist within this Euro model of this phone that exist in some US models (such as iTunes, etc.).

In good faith, I would appreciate it if the shipper could/would send a reimbursement for the minimal shipping charges that I incurred while sending the TransFlash card back to the manufacture (Motorola). I realize that I could have sent the product back to the shipper, which would have also incurred shipping charges. However, I figured that by taking care of the problem myself - directly with the manufacture - this action would at least save the shipper additional costs to get the defective product back to him, as well as the costs to send a new product back to me. Hopefully the shipper will agree with my decision and will award me a small compensation of $2.42 (the cost of sending the TransFlash via USPS).

Otherwise, once again, thank you.

Great phone

Strengths: Sexy design, slim, beautiful lights and bright screen, I-tunes is awesome, very customizable, comes with everything you need: software, headset, charger, memory card. Includes camera and video

Weakness: buttons are small, but hey, thats the price you pay for having a small phone. memory card could be a little better

Overall this is an awesome phone. It fits easily in my pocket. For those of you complaining about the quality of the camera and pics, come on, lets be real. This is primarily a PHONE....not a camera. If you want great quality, buy yourself an awesome quality camera. I like how you can customize all the shortcut buttons to your liking. Its a great phone all around...I really recommend it!!!!
