Pretty Good

Strengths: Great for legacy gaming, good compatibility/little to no configuration involved.

Weakness: Creative's driver CD is the shizz, comes with unnecessary software and blatant ads. Doesn't work well with few old/classic games.

The OEM version ($35 at Saitek for me) comes with soundcard and driver CD.

I'm sure a professional review would be much more worthwhile reading than this.

But as for me, I own a Win95 Pentium 233 MMX computer, and I bought this to replace an old Yamaha soundcard that I've used for a decade. I play many legacy games, so the Yamaha would have inferior/inaccurate sound, or no sound at all. However, the PCI128 amazed me with its sheer beauty it was able to play MIDI tracks from games and midi files; I began to appreciate how mere MIDI could sound so much better than my Yamaha (from a better MIDI synth's better instruments).

But remember, this is no Sound Blaster Audigy 2 or X-Fi. The soundcard itself is sometimes subject to internal interference (an occasional crack or static depending on which game I access).

Did you find it helpful or unhelpful?
