Great Program for a Professional DesignerStrengths: Good control of graphics, wide range of tools. Weakness: Not a program for a novice, limited on drawing basic shapes. Overall, a great program for the professional graphics designer. Has some limitations but they are minor in comparsion with other programs and teh strengths of this program. If you are looking to create special graphics, this is the program to use. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Adobe Photoshop CS v.8.0Strengths: Excellent graphics and text capabilities. Weakness: Love to have 3D. This is the leading product and it shows. It can be expensive though. Try looking for an OEM version. It should cost considerably less. I've used many image software like PowerPoint, Paintbrush, PaintShop Pro, Visio, and Macromedia Flash. Photoshop helps you create high end graphics and work with a lot of effects (including text effects) which just isn't available in other products. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Adobe Photoshop CS v.8.0Strengths: A good tool for creating and editing images. Weakness: Features are limited, too expensive. There aren't many changes since 7.0, actually, CS is worse than the previous version. I wanted to save a file in GIF format, and when I checked the drop-down list, it wasn't there! I had to manually adjust it to make it appear in the list. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Adobe Photoshop CS v.8.0Strengths: Navigation. Design tools. Weakness: Help information. This is a nice program but you are paying for the high quality of the program. Does a lot of things and much more than anyone would ever use. If you are need of a high power graphics program with unlimited capabilities, this is it. But we mindful it does not come cheap and there are other products which have about 75% of the capabilities at substantially less cost. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Adobe Photoshop CS v.8.0Strengths: Industry standard; lots of plug-ins and tutorials available across the web. Immensely powerful--I'm still learning new things about it every day. Weakness: Hard to come up to speed quickly for new users. High cost of initial ownership--for web graphics and home photos, Paint Shop Pro is a much cheaper and excellent choice. I've used PhotoshopCS about a year at work, and recently purchased it to upgrade PS 7 for my home business. Both are on PC. I've used Photoshop for 8+ years and never had an issue with installation except with Version 6 (known for its problems) so I don't understand the IT person's install problems. It IS important to pay attention to required hardware with PS. Photoshop does amazing things with images when you know how to use it, but it's helpful to have knowledge of commercial print and website or home photo image requirements in order to use it most effectively. Photoshop is a necessity for full-color commericial print needs which require CMYK images; Paint Shop Pro was designed for web and RGB images you print out on your home printer, but doesn't have the ability to handle commercial printing needs. 96% of readers found this review helpful. Adobe Photoshop CS v.8.0Strengths: State of the art, industry standard. Weakness: A little difficult to use "right off the bat". I got this for my son who is doing graphics for magazines, restaurants, etc. He was using Jasc Paint Shop Pro but now that he is becoming more of a mainstream artist he has found the need for the industry standard: Adobe Photoshop. 92% of readers found this review helpful. Adobe Photoshop CS v.8.0Strengths: Software works great when you can get it to work Weakness: Tech Support from Adobe is useless. After 6 months still not working correctly. Available hours stink and require a credit card before they will even talk to you. As an IT consultant, I cannot recommend this software to my clients, because I can't get help from Adobe when I need it. If the software works after install, it is great, but if it doesn't, you are screwed. Adobe tech support is the most uncaring group I have dealt with in 20 years of working with computers. I have a client wanting this type of software today, and I cannot in good conscience recommend this product. 81% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Great for Beginners too!Strengths: wide range of tools that are understandable, lots of features, accessible for beginners. Weakness: none so far I've seen a lot of expert users review Photoshop 8.0, and while I'm no expert by any means, I thought I'd give an amateur's take on the product. I've never taken classes or had any professional training with photo manipulation, but I enjoy being able to make quick and fun edits to my pictures. I purchased Photoshop as a complete novice, and had never before used software like this - and it was quite easy to get into. For the most part, the tools and other features are self-explanatory. Anything that you don't immediately recognize can also be used with trial and error, which I find to be the fun part! It also comes with a tutorial for amateurs, which I thought was helpful at the beginning. The software has ALWAYS run smoothly for me; no complaints regarding the final product, either. Adobe Photoshop CS with ImageReady CS
For the ultimate in graphics power and flexibility, Photoshop can't be beat. Photoshop offers more non-destructive ways of working than any other photo editor, and Adobe is always adding enhancements to help get the job done faster and with less frustration. This version adds something new for everyone--especially photographers. Top

Adobe Photoshop CS v.8.0
Strengths: *Styles save blend mode settings for easy application *Filters and effects work very well, leading to very nice effects. *Comes with ImageReady for web optimization and animation.
Weakness: *Takes a minute or two to load on a medium speed computer. *It's not worth it for people who aren't seriously into graphic design or who can't get it cheaply. *Difficult for starters.
Adobe Photoshop CS is the industry standard for graphic design, and with good reason. For me, it has always worked wonderfully, allowing such options as styles to save layer effects such as glows and bevels, as well as creating "filters" using a Record button in an Action window. This allows users to create combinations of many filters fr often incredible results. The product may lag sometimes, and Paint Shop Pro has a better Quality:Price ratio. However, if yoyu simple want the best, be sur to pick up Adobe Photoshop CS!
